The Boy Whose Head Was Filled with Stars: A Life of Edwin Hubble

This book is a biography of Edwin Hubble for children. The pictures are beautiful and the story is a great read for kids and adults alike.

Das Buch hat einen schönen Umschlag und ich versprach mir viel. Allerdings ist der Inhalt dürftig und die Texte viel zu wenig. Es ist eher ein Bilderbuch mit nicht besonders schönen Zeichnungen. Von der mangelnden Textfülle war ich wirklich enttäuscht. Es sollte Anregung für ein Schulkind in Englisch sein und sein Sprachgefühl etwas aufmotzen, aber dafür ist es leider überhaupt nicht geeignet, da zu dürftig.

Continuing with my exploration of delightful childrens books, this one is the story of Edwin Hubble (after whom is named the Hubble Space Telescope), American Astronomer who made very important discoveries regarding galaxies in the Universe.Like many children, he was forced by his father to study subjects of the day which would help to get him into an established profession. Even though all his childhood he loved gazing at the stars more than anything else.This book details how he eventually pursues his lifelong love for the Stars.It's got gorgeous artwork done by Deborah Marcero in acrylic, watercolour, pencil and ink.As the author Isabelle Marinov noted, the abiding message conveyed through the Book is this :"Planet Earth is nothing more than an infinitesmal fraction of a mote of dust in the vast cosmic tapestry. Maybe one day, this realization will help us over come our narrowness of perspective, which lies at the root of so many of our earthly problems."Highly recommended for children and adults!!

This beautifully illustrated real-life story held the interest of my grandkids ages 7 and 10. I recommend it.

The writing was elegant and absorbing and the illustrations were gorgeous. A great introduction to Edwin Hubble for younger readers. Looking forward to the author's next book!
