For some reason inulin has never made much of an impact on my gut. I recently read about Xylo oligosaccharide as a prebiotic food to increase the good bacteria. I have a problem producing good bacteria as I have recently discovered I have small intestine bacterial over growth. So I bought this to try and can feel the difference when taken with a good probiotic.

These arrive in a HDPE bottle that is recyclable. There are 120 capsules in the container which has a safety/tamper seal & bsomething I've not seen in a pill bottle in years; a cotton-wool ball to stop the contents moving about. There seems to be some confusion as to dosage though! One section says; "Serving size: 2 vcaps Servings per container: 60" Then directly below this it says; "...take one (1) tablet daily..." Now I don't imagine taking a little extra prebiotic a day will cause any harm, but I seriously dislike conflicting information as to dosage on a pill bottle. Hence why I knocked off a star. There are the usual warnings about for adults only & don't take if pregnant & to speak to a medical practitioner before starting them Plus to stop taking them if you have any adverse reactions, all pretty boiler plate stuff on a supplement bottle. There are" No Artificial Colour, Flavor or Sweetener, No Preservatives, No Sugar, No Starch, No Corn, No Soy, No Egg, No Lactose, No Gluten, No Wheat, No Yeast, No Fish" & the capsules are made of vegetable cellulose; though it doesn't categorically state if the capsules are vegetarian or vegan. The product descriptions says "Best Naturals Prebiotics Fiber XOS (Xylo Oligosaccharide) 1400mg serving 120 Veg Capsules" & the ingredient list is "Prebiotic Fiber, Vegetable Stearate, Silica, Vegetable Cellulose (Capsule)" I have to take a large amount of tablets every day & some of them cause upset to my digestive system, so I find taking these in conjunction with probiotics & a healthy diet helps me not feel nauseous & my digestive process working fine. ~ They don't have any real aftertaste after swallowing & no strong odour from the bottle. They are priced at £14.99 at the moment which may seem slightly pricey but it works out to 12½p per day for 3 months supply if you are taking one a day as I am, I'm happy to spend that to keep me healthy & not feeling awful every morning when I take my tablets.

This might be the best value XOS on Amazon. It comes as a powder in a cellulose capsule (which is excellent when taking as a supplement but a bit fiddley for making l reuteri yoghurt)(which, hot tip for the recipe, ten caps is one tablespoon of powder) that you’d think would be more exxy than the powder only product, but this bad boy, gram for gram, dose for dose, still wallops even the budget brands selling it as a powder. Highly recommend 👍🏻
