Out of the box plus a couple looks...very pleased
I am surprisingly happy with this Bible...surprised because I'm picky about most things and especially a Bible I read. One reviewer mentioned that pages were clearly missing...by manuscript page numbering and quick chapter flip as well as a couple, though limited, page by page content reading...my copy appears to have all pages. While I can see the type on the opposite side of any page while reading, I didn't notice it at first and I have to really look for it; I cannot tell the letters on the opposite side and it does not distract from my reading or overshadow the page I'm reading, bonus! I can read the font without my glasses and in not the brightest light. I've never owned a Bible with Jesus' words in red so I enjoy this as another bonus. There is a very simple graphic organizer/explanation of Jersus' Sermon on the Mount as it relates to the individual believerin Christ. Also, a page on Messianic promises in a simple visual graphic timeline...you have to read the Bible address given and go to the text to learn the verses, but you see it set at the time period the messianic promise was declared by God. I have only sat down with it three times so far (we moved houses within 4 weeks of receiving so I grabbed my old Bibles). I had purchased this "reference Bible" because I wanted resources in which the Bible interpretes the Bible all in one place by having timelines, concordances, outlines, indexes and various appendix-like resources in one place and I believe I have that in this Bible so it's a good next step for me. There is a 70 page archaeological finds section...that while I didn't read yet, these usually confirm the accuracy and authority of the Bible. Another small section of Bible addresses for those who "comprehend God and his plan with the cross" but have yet to personally make the decision. We have experienced about a decade of reading and memorizing the Word of God printed by itself with no other resources in the Bible. Sometimes between simple Bible studies or trendy Bible studies that loose focus; loose outside Bible related materials, ordinary though accurate general sermons and even living in areas with no Bible teaching churches, I needed something to marinate on deeply, individually. I believe this Bible provides that. The customized publisher's product box for this Bible lists one number and Amazon provided for thirty below. It is a leather cover, but very thin leather...typical bonded leather. I might provide a copy for every member of my family in the same translation so our family readings are richer. So far very good. Thank you.

Love the Thompson Chain Reference System
This Bible was purchased as a gift for a family member, so I cannot address any longer-term issues, but it was received quickly, seemed to be of very good quality and construction. The Thompson Chain system itself is brilliant and a great tool for in-depth Bible study.

Very good translation.
First I'll start by saying this is a very well made bible. The cover is soft and stays flat when opened.Pros: The bible is easy to understand. The 1977 translation is extremely accurate and true to the original manuscripts. I've compared it in many places to my NKJV and it uses the true text apart from some NU references the NKJV mentions in footnotes. The font size is OK, it's not large print but readable even as I use glasses. The back is loaded with the chain reference indexes, complete map section as any study bible will have. As you can see in pictures it's very detailed. I won't bother writing what's already in the description listed in the sellers page only to add what I've noticed. The Bible is bigger than my everyday bible but it is a complete study tool with many pages. This has exceeded my expectations of what I need to study with and will lead you in plenty of areas for full understanding of the subject your studying.Cons: the pages are thin, you can see through them but faintly. I can't say if a highlighter will bleed through as I won't be marking in these pages. I usually take study notes in a note pad. Other than the page concerns that's about the only negative thing I can say.In conclusion it's worth it for the price paid for the quality, workmanship and mostly the study help it will give in personal study as well as a group setting. It won't disappoint you.

The gold standard!
Thompson-Chain is the gold standard in research study Bibles. This one retains the quality I’ve come to expect plus the shipping was reasonable.
