I really like these floor boxes, I bought 2 of them to install in our new home since the open layout we needed some outlets in the middle of the room under the couch to plugin lamps. They look great, are really sturdy and once you read the instructions fit really snug to the floor. If you want these to be flush against the floor you really need to read the instructions and you need to recess the box ~3/8" into the floor. You can't just cut the hole and then set the back box flush against the floor, in that case the plate will stick up 3/8". I ended up taking off the tabs and cutting the hole for just the box and then mounting them recessed slight over 3/8", probably closer to 7/16" and then used longer plate screws to attach the plate, so it was nice and snug against the floor. With the tabs off you didn't have to cut as much at each end of the box and you were able to secure it to the floor by screwing through the holes at each end fastening it to the floor/subfloor. Also pay close attention to the way you are putting the gasket back in that goes under between the cover and the floor, it has a tab to make it "keyed", I didn't notice this at first and the plate was sticking up and then realized what I had done. Overall these are really nice looking floor boxes, they are sturdy and seem like they'll last a long time. Just read the instructions before you start and you should be good.

High quality heavy gauge metal and they are really beautiful. However, they stick up too high above floor level if they are going to be in a high traffic area. These are not flush with the floor, see photos and dimensions in the listing.

The faceplate itself is very nice thick metal with great covers on the receptacles. The install, however, depends on your particular floor. You need something at the right height to screw the box into. Most likely, your subfloor is a bit below the actual floor that you walk on, so if you screw the box into the subfloor, it will be too low and there will be a gap between the faceplate and the walls of the receptacle box. Maybe you won’t see that gap, but it’s not safe or up to code because the wires won’t be fully enclosed. I was installing this on a carpet floor with a 0.5” pad between the subfloor and the carpet. I decided to mount a couple of 0.5” square dowels on the subfloor and then mount the box on the dowels, so the box would be at the same height as the carpet pad. This was a retro install, so it was a little tricky to reach under the carpet to set it up. The screws for the faceplate are very long and weak and easy to break. I found replacements at Home Depot: Everbilt Satin Nickel Switch Plate Screws. These match well enough, although they are oval head and not flat head.
