CAUTION: for OWB you must use the BELT loop ONLY; do NOT use the belt clip for OWB!
Q: How do how do you screw up a brand new Sig Legion 229?A: Use the belt clip for OWB and re-holster the pistol.Whoopsie!! Both the holster and the Sig slid right off the clip and right onto the concrete floor.OUCH!! That REALLY hurt!Being fair, I give 5 stars for 1791 as a company and the other products I have, (American made and great products) but have to give 1 star (or zero) for this product's description!A simple clarification, somewhere, anywhere, would have and could have prevented this from happening. When you read the entire listing, there is ZERO noted about the clip and OWB.In fact, the wording under "VERSATILITY" section makes it seem perfectly fine to do it that way. When I called customer service, they knew right away what I was talking about , and said that the belt clip is for IWB only because it could slip off.Oh? Well that's good to know after-the-fact.Specifically, THIS holster description needs to have a very clear and obvious "caution" note about the belt clip & OWB use.And if it is listed somewhere on the listing page (which at the time of writing this review it was not), then SHAME on ME!This review is meant to be helpful, and hopefully it helps to prevent anyone from having a similar problem.Thank you.

WOW
This is much better made than I was expecting. That's not something that you get to say much these days. This company does things right. Bought for DE .50 AE.

OUTSTANDING!!
So I have this American Tactical FXH45 Hybrid. It uses some standard 1911 parts. A holster for a 1911 with a 5" barrel and rail will not work. I looked at holsters til my eyeballs bugged out of my skull. The I thought the pistol kind of sort of a little bit looks like a Desert Eagle. That sent me on another search of the Amazon. There it was a beautiful high quality slide holster that won't break the bank. I could not click the checkout button fast enough. The 1791 holster is just perfect! Followed the break in instructions and put the holster on OWB. The pistol is super snug against my side and draws silky smooth. This holster is fantastic for large frame automatics. Highly recommended!!

Fits giant revolver!
I had one of their first universals which only came in black at the time, wanting a simple “shove anything in it” holster, for test-firing different guns outdoors to easily secure and carry them. I ordered this in Vintage Brown once saw they offered more colors. The tan one also looked nice. Very good quality, thick leather and nice feel. Love the ability to carry these using clip, clip off, change sides, or only use the double sided belt loops on either side for strong, support side, or cross draw carry. I take the small clips off and just use the belt loops for a tight secured fit against the body. This large size fit everything from a 1911, Beretta 92sf, large frame Glocks and even this Ruger Super Blackhawk revolver! Great for range and field/hunting use. The gun just pressure fits in, with not much retention so be careful if carrying in public/crowded areas. For a dedicated firearm, you should be able to let it form pretty well, instructions provided.

so glad i bought this
this holster is awesomei mean its kinda bs but the kind i love.see you can put different revolvers in it. ive carried the following in this8.5 inch Taurus 44mag hunter, 6.5 inch taurus judge, 6.5 inch chiappa rhino.its great cuz you can use it to show off your gun in open carry and then everyone think you got big junk down thereor if you got a big coat you can conceal.

The Large holster is necessary for Sig Sauer pistols. The medium is too small.
They should, however, change the guidance given on what firearm fits the medium and the large Universal holster. I have two smaller Sig Sauers: a 9mm P225 and a 45 ACE P220 carry. Neither one would fit deep enough into the "medium" holster to cover the trigger and its guard. The large size Universal provides a snug fit for both weapons, and they both fit deep enough to cover the trigger (which helps prevent an accidental discharge when drawing the weapon).Based upon the guidance on the Amazon page, I first purchased the medium; I was able to return it and buy the large size.Great holster. Fits snugly against my "five o'clock" poistion side. As mentioned above, the weapons fits snugly and safely enough to remove worries about losing the weapon.

Quality stuff, good value, second guess the fitment chart
I love the holster, it feels like quality. My only criticism is about the advertised weapon fitment list. The holster is no where near big enough to fit a Glock 17 / 19x or any full size frame semi auto. I think they forgot how big a Glock 17 is. Now something like a Glock 26/27, LC9, or Ruger SR22, it works perfectly. In short, if you have a full size semi auto stay away from the medium and go with the large.

Holds a lot of my guns
It holds several of my guns, but the cut of the leather doesn't allow an easy draw. I can't get a good grip while the gun is in the holster ... I have to "double-clutch" the draw to get the correct grip. Also, the OWB wear of the holster is not very "stealth" and, at the 4 o'clock position it doesn't allow me to put my belt through a pant loop to stabilize the holster. It works but I'm not happy with it so that means I won't use it very often.
