Really great, for what it is.
Once you understand what this is, and what it can do, and you accept what it will never do, then this is actually a great little addition to your tech armoury. Though i doubt it would be much good as the main machine for everyone..You will NOT be able to play modern, triple A games on this, or edit long HQ videos, or even produce much music (though there are a few lightweight options there). In fact, without the addition of an SD card, you won't even be able to store much music or video on this. Maybe some pictures, but that really is it..But having added a really cheap 32GB SD card right away, i have doubled the storage capacity. I then went on a spree downloading apps from Google Play. Well over a hundred apps now, and half the storage is still free. And this shows no sign of getting sluggish yet. And while i was a little surprised at the handful of apps that this doesn't support, i was honestly much more surprised at what ones, and how many, that this does. Though when it came to banking apps it was closer to about 50/50 in that area..So what is this really good for? I'm glad you asked. I just got yet another problematic router (thank you Amazon). I tried my old Macs, my slightly less old i-Phone, and a new (but very cheap) Android tablet, but i just could not sort out the router's settings, or even get the router to function at all. But this little beauty sorted it right out, first time, no problem..And i can think of other examples where people might want some tech that is small, light, and cheap, to do just one basic thing, possibly somewhere in their house or office where a dedicated (and expensive) desktop computer just isn't practical. For instance, just for monitoring your homes or small business's security cameras. This would easily fit on a shelf or wherever to just be dragged out when it's needed. And i think that there are even apps on the Play Store specifically for that (multi-camera) purpose as well! Though obviously you will not store much footage on this if that's what you need to do. But again, additional storage is so cheap these days..So far, this is faster and more responsive than most of the rest of my kit (though as i say, that is all getting on a bit). I thought a slightly smaller keyboard than i am used to might feel cramped, but typing on this is as fluid and easy as anything i've ever had. And while it is obviously made of silver plastic, it does look, and even feel like metal up to a point. Also, i have now had this on all through the night, and it shows no sign of even getting warm, never mind hot..I think Google's support for this Chromebook might only be for another year (i'm writing this in April 2022), but i feel like a little Linux tweaking might extend that lifespan by a few years beyond that..Talking of Linux, right out of the box this comes with the ability to run some Linux apps (in beta), though i haven't tried that yet..And while many of us might view Google as one of the five or six most evil companies dominating the internet these days, i don't think that they have ever had a significant data breach. I might be wrong, but i think that's true. So all things being equal, while Google may be harvesting your data (including having bots look for keywords in your gmail to target you with advertising better), you are probably safer from other nasties online with this than you would be with an unprotected Windows device..But obviously, i'd still recommend that you use all the usual precautions anyway. For instance, AVG on the Google store is doing a good deal for the first year right now, and even their free version still gets good reviews (i don't think it's as "bloaty" as it might once have been!).And in case anyone doesn't know this, it's quite simple to have a Google account without even having a Gmail account anyway. So, after some tweaking, i now log in to my Google Play and YouTube accounts with my Tutanota e-mail, and i feel like i have the best of both worlds, or at least the right balance for me..I did think that the lack of an Ethernet port on this Chromebook might be a problem, as i do try to avoid Wi-Fi whenever possible. But there are plenty of USB to Ethernet adaptors available on Amazon for around the £10 mark. I got two random, different ones, and they both worked instantly with no effort or trouble. Though i have to add, when i did try Wi-Fi on this, there were a couple of times when it did take a little while to connect. But once it was connected it was perfectly fine..There are so many products i have bought from Amazon and ended up using the words ''absolute garbage'' in the review. So it's refreshing that i can enthusiastically give something five stars and some praise..Just keep in mind that you get what you pay for. And at this price, you are obviously not going to get a gaming laptop, a studio Mac, or anything even remotely close to those things. But i honestly believe that this is probably the best computer that you will get for the money. I have even had the occasional (reconditioned) desktop computer with higher specs than this has, that were useless and sluggish compared to this. But just stick to the low spec jobs this was made for is all i'm saying..

Perfectly adequate
Chromebooks are - by design - cheap, disposable computing. Everything is stored in the cloud, the device itself is just the more or less stupid endpoint to display web based content and applications. No need for huge amounts of storage, no need for fast, modern CPUs, everything is as basic as it gets. Disposable. If I lose my chromebook, do I bother? I don't think so. I will just get me a cheap new chromebook and continue where I left off.So, what do I expect from a chromebook?Cheap convenience. Useful battery life. A good enough display that my eyes don't hurt. Good enough keyboard and trackpad to do substantial work. Good enough sound to enjoy the odd YouTube/Netflix. Maybe a touch screen, especially when you consider to use your chromebook with Android apps.I used to have an Acer 13" chromebook since 2015. Even though it only had 2 GB RAM and 16 GB storage, it was good enough. Until, well, until the summer of 2021, when ChromeOS really, really wanted to get more than 2GB RAM and the lack of RAM turned it into a sluggish, useless paperweight. But then again, 6 years of usage out of a sub £300 system is more than economical and so I retired the Acer chromebook and switched to this new Asus chromebook.Switching was painless and minutes after logging into my Google account on my new chromebook, I had everything moved over, effortlessly. The screen is nothing to write home about. SD resolution, but on a 11" display, it's fair. Even more so with the limited battery capacity of an 11" device. The one thing that bugs me is that it isn't a touchscreen, but I knew that before and I can make do with a trackpad. The keyboard is fair. Not the best, but definitively not the worst that I have seen. Perfectly usable.Audio quality and volume are again perfectly adequate.Battery life is good enough for a day's work, I guess. There is no annoying fan and everything is as convenient as it can be.Build quality isn't that much. It's - again - perfectly adequate. It can take a bump and a scratch and I don't give a flying handkerchief. It should last 3'ish years - which is about £5 per month. So, what's not to like for £5 a month?

Great compact machine
Yes , this really is a good product . Quick to boot up with excellent battery life . Quick and easy to set up , well let ' s face it I did it . Screen quality and images are good and bought this at a great price . Another little thing is that the keys on the keyboard are slightly raised and this makes it easier to type , especially for someone as ham- fisted as me . All in all am very pleased with the product and my purchase .
