There is a little arrow on the pump bulb so you know which way the fluid is intended to flow. I used this to transfer gasoline from my truck to a gas can after I removed the fuel pump. So I had a clear view of where the end of the tube is and the gas level. The little brass fitting weighed down the tube so it was in the bottom of the tank. I could relocate it by hand so as to avoid debris from the deteriorating fuel pump that was in the tank. Once you pump the first gas to fill the tubes, the one way valve allows fuel to continue flowing on its own. No stupid sucking and getting fuel in your mouth which is a NO NO since it is highly toxic and carcinogenic.

This siphon is designed for Gasoline use-- others that I purchased in the past apparently were not-- as any sealant used was weakened by the fuel. This product has no such issue-- the "bulb" that you squeeze has a "check valve" in it to keep the gas from reversing flow as you use it. I like to remove ALL gas from my tools when I am done using them- to keep "fuel related starting issues" to a minimum. This item does the trick!

Got this to make my aquarium hobby easier and drain water out of tanks. Except this has made it so much harder. It's not a true siphon, barely functional. If you were to try the suction method, you can't pull water with your mouth because the pump creates air in the line. Since it doesn't create good suction, it NEEDS gravity to get to work, and hauling 10g of water above my head to fill the tanks is more intensive and SLOWER than bailing water with a bucket. And the clip is the bane of my existence. It falls out of it constantly I have to watch the process the entire time I can't walk away or it'll fall out. 0/10 get something else.

I used this several times now and it works very well. A good point is the brass fitting at one end that keeps the hose down when you are using it. The suction is good and glad i purchased this.
