I can't remember the last time our household bought an oven mitt. The time came as the ones we were using were wearing thin by the finger tips and the transfer of hot items from the oven to stovetop were becoming painful. To be honest, I was looking for an economical/utilitarian replacements to the ones we had (they were "fancier" ones from a fancy home store) and these were them. I found a like new warehouse deal for about 40 percent off new. They arrived new looking with no damage.The material feels like a heavier canvas type material which is more shiny than an all cotton mitt which would be softer. The thickness is good and heat resistance is also good. The design is fine, nice quilted pattern -- to me -- it doesn't look cheap at all. For someone looking for a basic oven mitt that is effective and looks aren't really that important this is a good value.As for longevity, hard to predict that, however, by the weight of the mitts and the apparent durable construction, it seems like it will last.

I like that it doesn’t have rubber on the palms, but these do a great job. They’re just a bit stiff and bulky feeling. I do. Have small hands though.

Their big enough for my big hands, keeps me safe from hot items. Works great.

These oven mitts are a reasonable addition to my kitchen. They are very insulated, with thick layering throughout the mitt preventing burns to hands, writs and lower arms. They are also stable to use directly on surfaces and laying pots and pans on top. I found the mitts easy to clean, just throw them in the washer and off you go and they look nice as well.The reason I gave them a 3 rather then a 5 is in their ability to use. For someone with large hands I am sure they are easier to use, however with small hands the insulation is very thick and difficult to manipulate. This makes it harder to change hands with hot objects and is extra pressure when trying to lift heavier objects.Overall, they are a good mitt and work as expected, however I would not purchase them again due to my ability in ease of use.

They are a little stiff in the beginning, but loosen up over time. Excellent protection for hands and lower arms.
