- My tip to open the ink:Many people experienced spilling when they opened the ink, so I was prepared for this.The metal lid is easy to remove. There is a rubber plug under it, which is tightly fitted to prevent spillage. I used a knife to loosen it up a bit. After that, it came out easily, but I used a piece of paper towel to grab and pull the rubber plug. None of the ink spilled. I was bravely wearing a white top. :-)- Packaging:The set comes in a sturdy, beautiful cardboard box. The packaging is decorated with a planets and stars theme, and says "Star Trek". I am big fun of the show, so I found that appealing.Tere is a foam insert in the box to protect the goods. The pens have plastic tubes on their nib as an additional protection. I am planning to keep these tubes to prevent the nibs from snapping.- Pens:Both pens are just as beautiful as in the pictures. The darker one has a flat grip, so you might be disappointed if you are expecting a round grip. I found both pens easy to hold and quite convenient to use though. I could draw nice thin lines with them. I also tried to cover small areas in ink and I could to them just as easily. The pens can keep a lot of ink, one single dip goes a long way.- Ink:The inks are gorgeous. Remember to give the little bottle a good shake before opening. You can see the glitzy particles sitting on the side or bottom of the bottle. Shake until they disperse. The ink dries slowly, giving you a lot of time to play around. It is water soluble even after drying.- Add-ons:The set includes a glass pen holder and a small glass jar for water to clean your pen. They look nice and I find them useful, especially the pen holder.- Summary:This product is a good bargain, and makes a nice gift. You can use it for creative lettering, even for calligraphy, but don't expect the pens behave like a regular calligraphy pen. You can use them for doodling, drawing and I find both the pens and the inks a great addition to my watercolor paints and brushes.

The ink flows smoothly from the nib. A joy to write with. Comes with a selection of inks that are bright and vibrant giving an extra oomph to your work.

I treated myself to this set as I love writing with fountain pens and really wanted some shimmering gold ink. I felt it was more economical to buy this set than just a bottle of ink and I am so glad I did.It comes beautifully presented and the range of colored inks are superb, the bottles look small but a little goes a very long way!The pens themselves are stunning— long and elegant making them easy to hold and write with and the ink flows easily.I honestly loved it so much I am purchasing more as gifts.

I was confused when I opened it as the box said 'Star Trek Glass Dip Pen'. It didn't even say 'set'.Fortunately, inside it is as on the sale page and the person I bought it for is an old Trekkie so won't mind it saying Star Trek.It all looks good and the internal packaging is secure and attractive.

As a starter kit for calligraphy or drawing this is an excellent buy and it gives a nice range of coloured inks to try out before you go onto buy more. I personally prefer black indian ink and then use the colours to enhance drawings

Given to a friend as a gift, this set is beautifully presented and in itself looks delicate but practical. A beautiful gift and absolute value for money.

I'm quite light-handed when I draw but the very tip of the blue pen crumbled the moment I began drawing with it. The other one held up okay, but couple stars knocked off as the blue pen is now useless.
