When I bought the book I expected it to be full of philosophical jargon that would make it heavy going. I was pleasantly surprised to find this not the case - I only had to resort to a dictionary three times. Flew was a one-time champion for atheism but here details his conversion to a believer in God with that conversion generated by new findings in science. Science led him to the conversion. He says of this, "In short, my discovery of the Divine has been a pilgrimage of reason and not of faith."He does a nice take-down of some of the 'scientific' proponents of atheism who argue that science leads them to atheism; paying particular attention to the atheist zealot Richard Dawkins. The book is worth reading for that alone.Well worth the purchase and food for thought on how a philosopher converts.

Flew's premise to "follow the evidence wherever it leads" should be adopted by all of us. Scientist and Believer alike, as a result of reading his book,my attitude is this: We should allow science to defend the bible and vice versa - incredibly, they do. If we would see God less as a wizard/magician who would "zap" things into existence and more as an engineer bringing in the processes that bring nature and the cosmos to light, there would be less friction. This is not to play down in any way that God does miracles. A good rule of thumb from Proverbs 8, "Let wisdom prevail".

As a believer in God, it was an interesting way of looking at and thinking about the topic. Perfect for theists and skeptics alike!
