Fallen: The Dark in You, Book 7

So much expectation but I found this one just meh
I love Suzanne Wright and this by far has been one of my favourite series BUT this book was seriously lacking compared to the others and I hate to say that. The story felt rushed and felt Maddox’ character was way more than this book allowed for development. There was little overlap with the main characters we have seen in the other books, which I get to an extent why, but again more could have done to develop that, being these were her girls and family. Where was Larkin in this book as well? Normally when the girls got together, she would also be there or at least with Asher, but nothing! It’s like she’s been written out of the books. The casual drop in of Levi finding his anchor at the end just seemed like a ploy to show another book is coming, but it was like an after thought of how you could do that, whereas with the others, it’s flowed naturally or been expected. A character such as Maddox, deserved more than one book like Knox and Harper. No development, rushed and I hate to say lacking! Not sure I will look out for the next instalment, which is a shame. I’ve read this series start to finish over and over, but this last book has left me a little meh!

Love PNR?
Fallen is the seventh book in the Dark in You series, but can be read as a standalone.I haven’t been able to read for over a month and Fallen both soothed me and easily burned my passion right back into the reading world.Raini and Maddox are now my favourite Dark in You couple. Their chemistry and passion sizzled off the pages.Rich with detail of the immense world you have conjured from your imagination, and laced with little gems of humour. The book, as always, is written with great flow to the storyline; the pace is set perfectly to get the reader into a rhythm and asking questions that will be answered in the coming pages.*Spoiler* This book does have triggering content such as violence, death and torture.Plot: 📚📚📚📚📚Character rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️World building: 🌎🌎🌎🌎🌎Sexiness: 🔥🔥🔥Feels: 🖤🖤🖤Writing style: 🖊🖊🖊🖊🖊

Angels and Demons
Suzanne Wright is one of the few authors I automatically buy without having to read the blurb first. She could quite literally publish her shopping list & I’d one click it. I’ve got her books in all formats which have been read/listened to repeatedly & can honestly say I’ve never been disappointed. She creates magical, crazy worlds filled with angels and demons, imps and hell beasts, incubus and succubi and every other kind of mythical being you can think of. The heroines are typically all mouthy, kick ass women who don’t put up with any crap especially from their 100% pure alpha, over-protective mates and are more likely to be found right in the middle of any trouble……. in fact they probably started it!Fallen is the seventh book in her Dark in You series. A series filled with demons based in the glitzy setting of Las Vegas. It’s the turn of Raini, a succubus to take centre stage. Her love interest is Maddox, is a descendent, so called because he’s descended from a fallen angel who mated with a demon hence the book’s title. They are anchors, fans of this series will know that anchors help to mentally stabilise each other and prevent them from turning rogue but it doesn’t have to be a sexual relationship. It can be platonic. Maddox however doesn’t want to formalise the anchor bond as he and his other descendent lair members a have secrets that have been kept hidden from the rest of the demon world. It’s just a pity his demon doesn’t agree with him.As usual what made this book book for me is the relationships between the characters and the ensuing dialogues. From the drunken, random discussions between Raini and her girls – who wouldn’t want to go on a night out with this group? to the hilarious threats made by Raini’s over protective, knife wielding father and uncles. This is why I re-read these books over and over again and, as long as the voices in Suzanne’s head keep giving her such fantastic ideas for books, she will always be the go-to author for me.

Hard to get in to
Having loved the first 4 books, I liked the idea of having 'the girls' stories, along with the sentinels coming next. Although I didn't review Devons or Khloes books, I was a little underwhelmed with them. They were quite repetitive and in Khloes book, over the top (particularly Ashers appearance, although Khloe also got a bit ott, even for her).Anyhow, I was feeling more confident about this book as I always preferred Raini to the others. I bought it when it came out and have only just finished it. It took about 120 pages to get going and I could only read a few pages/chapter at a time. It was very slow and the Maddox and Raini were just coming across as watered down versions of Knox and Harper. Raini seemed to have lost most of the 'spunk' she showed in the other books. Whilst she didn't necessarily seem weak, it looked like the author was going to change her personality Thankfully, it came back. Maddox also improved but although it was attempted to show a softer side of him like with Knox, it didn't work. The positive to this is some of the new 'races' that have come in to it, and I assume they'll be in further books.Looking at the ending, I assume Levis book is next which is disappointing I was hoping we'd see more of Larkin as she was also someone in the early books that hinted at a great story.

Oh my god
Omg this was so worth the year long wait. Even though i didn't quite take to Maddox i still loved it. But i had the same feelings with Nick in Phoenix/Mercury packs and love him now so i think i'll be same with Maddox the more times i read it. Back to this book though, i loved how Raini stood her ground even when he thought she was doing what he wanted. Loved Viper and his lair, really hoping to hear more about them soon. Missed Larkin and after the brief glimpse into Levi i can't wait to read his book next
