Q: can this withstand high temperatures in a parked car?

Yes for tempt. But I think it drains battery at night. Another model from another company says it will not drain battery at night. I suggest you research more

Buy cigarette lighter usb plug just like any one you would use to charge your phone in the car (you probably have one). Plug in your phone and see if it's charging with the car turned off.
