Great for beginners
Almost 10 year old total beginner whizzed through the first 2 in 2 months. He's doing his grade 1 soon :) very proud . Good books.

Structural sequence to learning the piano for young people.
Lovely illustrations to amuse and spur young people (and older ones) to learn this instrument. However the development stage is most important and I highly recommend this series of books to parents.

Very good, fun way to learn piano
I am giving piano 'lessons' to my son at home using the Chester series. We are now on book 3. Its great. He loves the different pieces, the pace is about right for him, he loves the cartoons and what the characters get up to.I just want him to enjoy learning the piano - grades etc he can decide upon later. But for now this is exactly what we both want and he is very happy to practice using these pieces. would highly recumbent.

it was recommended to me (a very mature beginner) by my piano ...
Although this book is intended for children learning to play the piano, it was recommended to me (a very mature beginner) by my piano teacher. I have to say the Chester books have been much easier to follow than some of the other self-teaching books I tried. The progress seems very logical and well paced. Very pleased

Good beginner piano books
My son is working his way through these books as recommended by his piano teacher. Generally, he likes the tunes in book 3; he found some of the tunes in book 2 a bit tedious and underwhelming, which didn't motivate him to practise them as much, but he's much more enthusiastic by the choice of scores in book 3. They are thoughfully laid out and make it easy to progess.
