I tried the Tuna Noodle Casserole - it used cheese in it. We loved it. Can't wait to try more recipes. Highly recommend.

A Great Treat/Great Place to Eat
I actually purchased this cookbook because I love Southern comfort food from my childhood. Moreover, I purchased this cookbook about 18 months before actually visiting the real, Blue Willow Inn. Yes, there really is a restaurant and it was a lovely place in a small town called Social Circle, Georgia. There is not much to see in Social Circle other than this restaurant and I was concerned that the only other major business in town was the funeral home across the street (food to die for???), but all in all, it was worth the 30 minute drive east of Atlanta. I loved the food at the restaurant, but there is something about being in the kitchen cooking your own food filled with love that makes food taste better than good. My all time favorite recipe is Ham and Cheese Pie. It's easy and most of all, it's delicious. This is a great gift for anyone who loves to eat and better yet, loves to eat good ol' Southern food. This being the "bible" of Southern cooking, it's probably not proper, but I'd swear on it that this is "good eatin'!"

Perfect for a born and raised Georgian!
If you are a Georgia born, and raised, gal or guy this cookbook is perfect for you! The women in my family never wrote any recipes down so as a new wife and mother I have felt totally lost in the kitchen. I’ve always longed to recreate the dishes that my family enjoyed before me, and now, with this cookbook, it is all making sense now! 😁 from pinto beans, snap peas, and buttermilk biscuits, to dirt cake for my children, this cookbook truly has it all for any southern that can appreciate it! Also, I enjoy reading the history portions!

Gettin' supper on the table
I am a stay-at-home mother of two girls and a former Home Econ teacher. I looked this cookbook over three times before purchasing and I just couldn't walk away without buying. The cover and photos inside are beautiful, the layout is efficient and clear, and the authors look like people you'd love to have as family. These recipes are not fancy and probably wouldn't do for a lovely dinner party. But if you want recipes to gather family and friends, this cookbook should be on your countertop.I like the quickness and ease of prepared foods as some of the ingredients. My youngest daughter helps in the kitchen and if the recipes were too hard or time consuming, we wouldn't have as much fun cooking together. Plus, since we live in a rural area all the ingredients used are things we can find.Gratitude to the authors for a wonderful book.

A treasure trove of Southern goodies
This cookbook is chock full of all the Southern dishes I love and many more that I have heard about for years. I always judge a cookbook by its desserts and this one has it all---101 pages of the most wonderful sweets you can imagine, counting a handful of pages especially for kids. I'm going to start there and work my way through as much sugary wonderfulness as I can, and don't really care right now if I try anything else, although I know eventually I will because those dishes have to be great too. I especially liked reading the comments and histories about many of the recipes, and appreciate that they included special contributions from other people. When this happens, I feel like I'm getting the best of the best dishes out there. Such great recipes between two covers--a real treasure trove of Southern cooking.
