good book
This book is good for the kid during the age 4-6; attractive and colourful picture, unexpected answer make the kids keep reading and not dull.

Must have for any toddler!
We got this book over Christmas and this has become a must read for my toddler. He loves this book and pulls it out for me to read every day. I've even caught him flipping through this book himself and laughing as he flips the pages. It is a very simple book with only two words - one on the page and one on the flap. For example, one page will show you day time with a little window cutout, then you flip open the flap and suddenly it is an image of night time. It is very clever and very well thought out. My son laughs out loud at several of the images and how quickly things can change from being one thing to the complete opposite.

Very Clever Opposite book
The opposites in this book are unusual and very clever! But the illustrations may be to clever for the younger set. The book is rated for 4-8 and maybe the older ones will like it better. Of course by then they can usually spout the opposites (for that matter so can my 2.5 year old son) but this book brings interest back to the subject. Plays with perspectives and perceptions. But some of the unexpectedness of the illustrations were lost on my son. I enjoyed it and was very impressed that someone could have a new take on such an ordinary and much published children's subject!

Deceptively simple/delightfully surprising
Seeger's work looks deceptively simple but is more often than not quite surprising.Black White Day Night is another lift-the-flap book of opposites that lives up to her other lift-the-flap projects: The Hidden Alphabet and Lemons are Not Red.Her bright and unfussy illustrations appeal to children and the cleverness of her designs will appeal to adults. I always find myself genuinely surprised when looking through her books which strike me as being very well-thought out and conceptualized.

Kids love it!
My 6 and 3 year old want to read this over and over and over. Its clever and I love it too. I thought it was odd to have the addition/subtraction page in there. My kiddos didn't connect with that at all. It just seemed out of place. I still give the book 5 stars!

An Opposite Book with a Twist!
As someone who works a lot with small children, I know from experience how much they love suprises in a book. I was a huge fan of Ms. Seeger's other books - Walter is Worried and The Hidden Alphabet because of their incredibly unique approach to tried and true subjects. This title has the same great element of suprise and clever, artistic approach that will delight kids (of all ages). I personally have had enormous amounts of fun with it each time I read it aloud!
