Nesco American Harvest FD-61 Snackmaster Encore Dehydrator and Jerky Maker

Can't use in India because voltage levels are different. Product will break down. Mine did. Pl help me where I can get it repaired in india.

Pricey but worth the money. This is our second one. The first one still works after 20+ years we just needed a second one for a second home. Obviously I'd buy again.

I have only just received this (quickly, too), but please be aware that the item does not come with spice packs as one of the pictures shows. It comes with the instruction/recipe book, one fruit leather tray, and the dehydrator. I will review how good the item works as soon as I go out and buy some apples!!! I'm excited!Update: It does what it's supposed to do! I small-diced about 9 peeled apples, and ended up with a couple quart ziplocs worth of dried apples. It seems to work best if you give it a few hours, then stir each tray and wait a few more hours, then repeat until the item is dried. The cookbook says that the items dry in an amazingly-short period of time, which I don't find to be true. I have checked my clocks, and they seem to run at the normal speed, and according to my friends I am located outside of any sort of time warp, but my items still tend to dry at about 1.5 times the estimations in the book. Please take that into consideration.I also bought a few extra solid trays,and mesh trays, which I think are essential. With the mesh trays, you can lift the tray out, and easily clean or remove without making a huge mess. When using the solid trays, I find that rubbing a paper towel dotted with some oil aids in removal of things like fruit leather. Where the oil is rubbed, the fruit leather pulls away from the edge as it dries, and dries more evenly. Where there is no oil, the fruit leather will start to pull apart, leaving little fruitless rifts in your future treats. Also, if you add a little oil, they tend to store a little better, as the oil keeps them from sticking together as much as oil-less leathers do.

I bought this dehydrator because I wanted to dry my own fruit for granola and try my hand at some raw recipes. This dehydrator appealed to me because I wasn't sure how much I would use it and thus wanted to pay a moderate price for a quality dehydrator. This dehydrator fit the bill.So far I have not had any troubles with it running above or below the stated temperature. I also appreciate how quiet it runs as many of the recipes I make call for quite a long drying time. That said, now that I am using it more there are a couple of features I wish it had:-First, as others have said, I wish there was no hole in the middle. Overall this is not a big deal, but can be problematic when trying to make something like a crust for raw pizza. Instead I find myself making mini pizzas rather than one large pizza so I do not have a hole in the middle.-Second, I wish there was a timer function much as there is on my slow cooker. When I purchased this it didn't occur to me just how long some things would take to dry (7+ hours). Because of this I wish there was a way to set up a timer as sometimes I am less organized and put something in in the evening and find myself having to wake up in the middle of the night to check the temperature. With a timer this could easily be avoided.Overall though this has been a great purchase and I have been enjoying how easy and cost effective it is to dehydrate things.

Machine is easy to use and dries meat very well.

I bought the SnackMaster Encore, Model # FD-61, to replace my 25 yr old one that had been a gift from my father. This is a very good unit to dry herbs, fruits, veggies, and flowers. It is very easy clean-up since the blower is top-mounted instead of at the bottom. My old one had the blower at the bottom so it was always full of seeds and/or sticky juices which were very hard to clean up. Having the items with suggested temps listed on the blower unit is helpful. This unit is also much quieter than my older model. & my husboan really appreciates that feature! It holds up to 12 trays so I can do multiple types of fruits/veggies/herbs at one time. The Recipe & instruction manual is also very helpful, esp. if you are a novice at dehydrating. I also bought the Nonstick Round Silicone Dehydrator Sheets which help with the cleanup.
