A big step in the right direction
Mine arrived today. I tested it on Skype.Sound quality was a bit off, but Skype quality is poor to begin with -- this could have been all Skype issues. Still, it's workable. The device is quite compact, about the size of a very small cell phone or a compact pager. Very light. No mute or volume control -- have to do that using software. The included USB cable is cheap, long and bulky, I use the elegant Zip-LINQ retractable mini-B cable that came with my mouse. The device works with a cell phone earset and has better sound then -- this, in fact, is really what I wanted. They even include a cheap earset, which is a nice touch. It will be far easier to travel with this than with a bulky USB headset. My ideal device would cost the same but: * dump the speaker phone, so make it smaller (use a cell phone earset) * use a built-in short USB cable that nests in the body of the device * add a mute buttonThis isn't my ideal, but it's the best I've seen so far! I think I like it.

Just what I needed!
I needed a solution that would allow me to use google chat for conference calls without having to wear a headset. I don't like not being able to hear what's going on around me for long periods of time. Also, I did not want to invest a lot of money into something that would only be used a few times a week. I found this and bought it and glade I did. It's simple, affordable and very portable if needed. There was no setup for me as I simply opened the package and connected it to my computer. Once I opened google chat to make my phone call it was already recognized, skype found it automatically to. The voice quality is decent but you might want to consider getting something to sit it on that raises it up a little towards you when your speaking. That's the only complaint I've had by others is that it's hard to hear me if the unit is at the back of the desk, just put it on a small box, I use the tissue box on my desk when needed, or whatever that raises the mic up closer to your voice and you will be fine.

Great speakerphone for the price. You'll need to spend 5x more to get anything better.
Great speakerphone, no echo, gets plenty loud and works on most machines without silly drivers. I use it with google hangouts. This is the same exact device as the IOGear GPH100U which has been out for over 10 years, and has gotten great reviews. You will not get hi def audio if you are looking for something that is better than standard phone quality. Size wise this is about the size of a hotel bar of soap. The one I got was actually all grey. Surprisingly this is NOT made in China but in Taiwan.

Nice self contained, small, usb speakerphone
I bought this to use with my Mac for Skyping and Gizmo'ing. I wanted something small and the optional headset jack was a plus for privacy. Be aware that the headset jack fits your standard Cell phone headset, not a standard PC headset. It works okay, as advertised.Positives: Works with no drivers, small, sound quality is above average, better than the built in microphone on my iBook.Possible negatives: Draws too much power to plug into the usb port on my keyboard, and the cell phone size audio jack requires you purchase a cell phone style headset. What I'm actually using now is a dinky, single ear/mic headset with a plantronic's usb headset adaptor.

Works well, plug and play with Windows 7
I was concerned after reading reviews that said this did not work with Windows 7. It worked flawlessly for me. I did NOT have to restart to get it to work. Plugged it in, Windows recognized it, and it worked!I have a new Sony Vaio, that runs Windows 7 64 bit professional. Sony's sound is not very loud, and there was a lot of feedback using the mic on Skype. I tried a new speaker, which worked well, but did not slove the microphone problem. I purchased this from Amazon to try. I am delighted. The speaker is set to 12% and is plenty loud. (The Sony speaker was set to 100% and it was difficult to hear) The microphone solved the feedback issue immediately. I am very pleased with how it works. I would like to get a flexible USB to mini USB so that I can suspend the device in the air from the USB port. It will keep it out of the way. The cable it came with is 6 feet long, and even rolled up takes up space on the desk. Not a huge issue, just a preference.I am very pleased with the performance and sound. It is not perfect sound, but soooooo very much better than inadequate volume that I was experiencing.

OK for a backup--too quiet for day-to-day work use
This functions in Windows 10, but as others have reported has very low mic volume, even from ~18 inches away. I maxed out the various volume settings (driver, device, within Skype), but could only barely reach a minimally audible volume. Also, the sound quality is OK, but can't get above 16-bit quality and does have some background static when maxed out.So, it's totally fine for the price, but best thought of as a backup. I do appreciate that it can be used without a product specific driver and suspect this would allow it to be used on basically any OS.

Great for web meetings and VOIP
I am a VOIP user (telephone through my laptop) and am also a heavy user of web-meetings (primarily Lync). I needed a small speakerphone to keep in my laptop bag for when I am meeting with some users face to face and we're connecting to remote users via Lync. The native speakers and mic in my Lenovo laptop don't cut it and my USB headset doesn't work for this either. The MVOX speakerphone is perfect. I don't use it often, but when I do it always works. Just plug it in and the light turns on so you know it is connected. The laptop switches mic and speakers to the MVOX automatically. Sound quality is great and it is so small and light I don't mind just leaving it in my laptop bag so it's always there when I need it. It's also inexpensive enough that you don't need to use it very often for it to pay for itself.By the way, the speakerphone I received is dark metallic grey, not white as in the photo, but is otherwise the same.Highly recommended.
