A Court of Mist and Fury : Maas, Sarah J.: desertcart.in: Books Review: acomaf is my bae!!!! - Rhysand! Rhysand! Rhysand! Holy shit this book was one of my favourites so far in 2016. This book had me on the edge of my seats. It had so many ups and downs. My emotions were all over the place. The story started off where it ended in the last book which is a court of thorns and roses. This book was much more complex and rich in its characters and its world building. It compensated for the little loopholes that was present in the last book. I could feel a strong connection to all that happened in the last book but everything was new at the same time. We got to see things from a new perspective that we had not thought of in the first book. Even the characters have taken a whole new turn. All that we thought was right in the first book was all wrong and all that we thought was wrong turned out to be the best. The story intertwined so much more beautifully than I was expecting it to be. World building: The world building was one of the best. The first book could not tell us about the faeire world that much but everything was compensated more than enough in this book. I was very much confused about the world and that made me a little uncomfortable but this book gave a vast explanation of the world. It was so rich and complex and I loved the world and wanted to be a part of it as well. The night court was explored in its every corner. We even got to visit the summer court and also certain other places. We got the image of the human lands as well where the queens ruled. We got to know about the land of Hybern which was only mentioned about earlier. All in all the world building was far more superior to that of the first book of this trilogy. Characters: Ok so this is my favorite part!! We have all the characters from the last book plus some more kickass amazing characters. The characters are so much more intertwined and we can see all of their development together. At the end of this book I was thinking the difference the characters had from the last book. It was humongous. First of all I would like to talk about feyre. In the first book she was weak and submissive. She was a huntress but I could not see that much of strength to her character until the very end. She was strong but not as much. She liked to paint and thought if she could marry someone rich she would paint all her life. She was to some extent pathetic. In this installment however she took a one eighty degree turn and she became so much more kickass yet feminine as Sarah J Maas likes to do with her characters. She still loved to paint but she was much more than that. In the beginning she was seen to be tortured by her own thoughts about what she had done in the last book. She was shattered and broken. So much so that she was nothing but a hollow empty entity. She could not eat or sleep waking up each night from the horrific dreams and wrench her gut out vomiting in the bathroom. And I completely understood why that happened. But later on she was such a strong character. She was in complete control of her emotions. She was so much more kickass- bold and courageous that even I fell in love with her. Yet she loved her family and loyal to the one she loved. We can see her self sacrifice character so much in this book especially at the end that I kept crying and hoped for the next installment so much to see her having a happily ever after because she deserved that. Tamlin was kind of my favourite in the first book but he had a demotion so much so that I hated him at the end of this book. Whatever I thought about him was so wrong. He was so miserable in this book that I wanted to put a knife through him myself if he existed. He was so much self centered, careless, jealous, and obsessed. I could not think about the other side of the coin prior to reading about the past happenings that he did. But he was sickening at the end. Rhysand-Holy crap! Can I marry him? Please! Please! Please! He was the best. Like he was also one of my favourites before but that changed into an obsession. Like I have a thing for bad and hot guys. But he was not what I expected. And he was like a bombshell that exploded in this book with love potion that intoxicated me. We can understand why he did all that he had done in the last book. And it was so convincing that I did not find myself questioning about anything that he had done. He was a complete sweetheart. Other characters: There are a lot of characters in this book. Starting of we have Lucien and Nesta and Elian. Then we have kickass characters like Amren, Azriel, Cassian. All of them had a huge character development from where they had started off. By the end I was on the edge of of seat to see the potential of action that can happen with these characters alone. They form a huge and important part of the story. And Sarah has said that Nesta will cover even a greater role in the next installment so that is definitely something to look forward to. Plot: The story was completely filled with twists and turns. The plot never left me feeling bored or uninterested even for a split second. I was highly engrossed in the story and it was definitely a page turner. This book definitely contains pretty steamy and graphic sexual content. But it didn’t bother me that much because it was so good and full of emotions which was completely understandable. The chemistry between each of these characters was charminf. The friendships had so much loyalty and the romance was definitely swoon worthy. I was cringing in some scenes from the lines during the romance and I was like how can you even say that?? Or Kyaaa I can’t take it anymore :P All in all though this book was the second book in a trilogy it was not at all boring. It was action packed and a roller coaster of emotions. But it also laid down a fabulous plot for the next book. I can see the grave danger that is coming. I cant wait to read the next book. I completely devoured this book and I highly highly recommend everyone to read this book. I cannot emphasize enough on how good this book is. It should be a must read for everyone. Final verdict- I am obsessed Review: Dismiss all your doubts and BUY THIS NOW!!! - Books spanning more than 300 pages barely ever make it to my bookshelf. I like short and interesting reads because my attention span isn’t that great and also I lose interest too quickly. So, I do not spend on books that look like they can last me a few decades. But, this one book changed that for me. A Court Of Mist And Fury is the first 600+ pages book that I read cover to cover without skipping a single page in between. If I do not skip pages in a book, it clearly means that it was tremendously well written to have my 100% attention. It definitely took me longer to finish this book than most of my other books but the entire reading period was never dull even for a moment. It is one of those books that you will not mind reading even in your sleep. Let’s have a look at all the points that made this book so enthralling. Points I Liked About A Court Of Mist And Fury Extraordinary Feyre: This girl is just mind-blowing. The changes that Feyre undergoes, as a character is justifiable. She is a strong girl with a good heart. She feels guilty for ditching her supposed love Tamlin as he has done a lot for her and her family. But Feyre has already paid him back with her life. Moreover, today things have changed and she isn’t her old self anymore. She needs to find out what her new life has to offer. Internally she may flounder day in and day out but she knows what she doesn’t want and does not hesitate to take a completely new path in the hope of living a better life. Her determination to save her people makes her an admirable female protagonist. Righteous Rhysand: Another hot and sweet hero to fall in love with! Even as I read Book 1 of this series i.e. A Court Of Thorns and Roses, I knew Rhysands’s character will not die soon and will definitely have a major role to play in Feyre’s life especially after the way he came to her rescue as Amarantha brutally attacked her. And this book proved me right. A lot was revealed about Rhysand and his family in this book and now you know that Rhysand is the good guy beneath the mask of cunning and shrewd. Rhysand’s character is so beautifully defined, I often forgot that he does not exist in real. It’s sad, because had he been real I would have kidnapped him, married him and kept him all for myself. I want to marry Rhysand!! Astute Writing: Maas’s plotting and characterization are just outstanding. There are several new characters introduced in the book. Each of them has a past that binds them all as a family. Maas very skilfully gives you peek into each of Rhysand’s friend’s back-stories at regular intervals just enough for you to understand their behaviour. Whatever little was mentioned about each of them has my interest piqued and I cannot wait to grab the next instalment of this series only to know more about all of them. This book also contains a lot of revelation pertaining to Prythian history so you will understand the faery culture a little better. Swoon-worthy Romance: The book may not be very heavy on ‘romance’ initially but as the story develops there is a lot of flirting between Rhysand and Feyre which eventually leads them to where they were bound to reach, in each other’s arms. The fact that Rhysand, the most powerful Faery ever to be born feared by all of the Prythian, mellows only before Feyre is what makes my heart melt. I like heroes who know how to treat women. The sexual energy that they exude as a pair is electric and I give a big thumbs-up for this invincible couple. Points I Did Not Like About A Court Of Mist And Fury Well, this section has no place in this review, because this book is that damn good. Final View: I loved this book, every single page, every single scene, every single paragraph, every single word….just everything. I can close my eyes and give it a 10 on 5 rating because it is that mind-blowing. I totally second the general consensus of readers that this book is better than its prequel. It is just flawless. Missing this book is a sin, grave sin! Originally posted on Alphagirl.in.

A MUST READ SERIES!
Book Title: A Court of Mist and Fury Author: Sarah J Maas Format: Paperback Book Title: The book title is absolutely appropriate to the story. Book Cover: The cover is symbolic and understood when you read the story. My review: How am I supposed to review a book that officially leaves you with so much feels that you're at a loss of not just words but thoughts as well! I've read this series four times now but words fail me as I try to come up with how accurately I should describe the plethora of emotions I've experienced every time I pick up this series! I've never ached for a fictional world to be more real and me wanting to dive into it! Feysand is my official favorite couple and inner circle is my family! The world building is astounding and each page will either make you go aww, make you swoon or make you want to exact revenge on some characters. Even the five stars do not do justice to how wonderful this book has been written. The experiences are surreal and makes you want to dive back into the world time and time again! The world building is slow burn (and I legit mean SLOW) with flirting thrown in for good measures, there's adventure, court politics and such turn of events that they leave you gobsmacked! The character building is steady and absolutely done on point! I keep thinking it doesn't get better than this and the author proves me wrong as soon as I flip the pages! I still don't do justice to this book through review but all I will tell you is YOU NEED THIS SERIES IN YOUR LIFE ! Final Verdict Title: 5/5 Cover: 5/5 Plot:5/5 Characters:5/5 Language and Vocabulary: 5/5 Final overall rating:5 /5

A good Sequel
So! I reread this book once before writing this review. The reason behind it is that I really did not like it the first time around. But having calmed down a bit and rereading it gave me the chance to be more objective about the whole book. The book starts with Feyre being back at the Spring Court after Amarantha’s spell is broken to free the Fae. She is recovering from her ordeal and at the same time preparing for her wedding to Tamlin. As things settle in and everyone is trying to bring back some normalcy in their lives, things are actually not so great for Feyre. She has to get used to her new Fae body and the power that comes with it. She is also struggling with nightmares from her time under the mountain in Amarantha’s court. She is about to lose it in front of all the guests at her wedding when Rhysand appears to call on his debt. Once in the night court, Feyre’s life starts to change. She finds friends and allies instead of monsters that she expected to meet in the night court. And most importantly, she realizes that she could have a different sort of life. Even with King of Hybern’s imminent attack, Feyre finds out her options! First, let me tell you why I did not like the book first time around. It has lots of adult content, which I feel could have been done without. It is no secret that I do not like to read about sex in a book which is why I completely avoid erotica. I like books where the chemistry and relationship dynamics are shown, not told. And yes, I feel sex scenes are very telling. But as I said, this was my personal quirk. Moving on, it was very clear in A Court of Thorns and Roses that Tamlin is a pretty weak character. He may have a great capacity for fae power, but he was a very shitty character. Throughout the book his need for controlling Feyre was very apparent and he did absolutely nothing to help when Feyre turned up at Amarantha’s court. His only redeeming moment was when he sent Feyre back to the human realm to keep her safe. Rhysand on the other hand always made it clear that there is more to him than what seems. He saved Feyre the moment he met her. He again did a lot under the mountain to keep Feyre safe. And he even picked up the dagger to kill Maeve. So it did not come as a surprise to me when Rhysand’s true character and motives are revealed in this book. However, I have to admit that I did underestimate his powers and plan. And oh! Can we just take a moment to talk about the Court of Dreams? Cassian and Azriel are such opposite personalities, yet I do not know who I admire more. Then there is Mor! What wouldn’t I give to have a friend like her? And Amren, I shiver to think what her true form could do! I absolutely adore these people and could see them as the ones who change the world. Nesta and Elain have much bigger roles to play in this book. I liked Nesta in the last book as she turned out to be a stronger character than I initially expected. Elain too plays her part well in this book and I cannot wait to see her future in the series. Lucien though is a character I am not so sure about. At times (over both the book) he had been the only friend around for Feyre, yet in he hunts Feyre under Tamlin’s orders. Is he good? Or is he bad? He has the potential to be both but which way will he go? I am curious about King of Hybern and his plans and can hardly wait to see what hell Feyre raises in the Spring Court.

A Gripping Tale!
Book Review - A Court of Mist and Fury Author - Sarah J Maas Genre- Romantic Fantasy This is the second book of the series. After Feyre saves Prythian from Amarantha, she goes back with Tamlin to the Spring Court. Between wedding preparations and other celebrations she is haunted by nightmares of the times Under the Mountain. Even though she has turned into a High Fae, her heart remains human. Just when she thinks Rhysand has forgotten her deal to spend one week in his court, he arrives. And arrives he truly does. The characters Feyre, Rhysand, Cassian, Azrael, Mor, Amreen flesh out so well. There is no putting down this series honestly. The seamless transition between human life to fae life left me in awe. The plot doesn't falter once, it gripped me throughout. The interesting twist is actually the love angle here. Even though I found myself guessing bits and parts, yet the turn around was breath taking. There is so much to learn from Ms. Maas. The depth of characters, their sufferings, longing, loneliness, flaws and so much more. The action scenes are so strong and easy to visualize. Right up until the climax, that throws everything off. I found myself already bracing for the third book of the series.

Heroism Defined in a New Way
I have always seen the heroes (male or female) being appreciated for the courage in the hour of darkness when they face the evil and won. And I had always thought that the courage they talked about was the one they showed in the time of fight. But after this reading this book, I realized that the heroism or the courage they talk about isn't the one that's shown in the fight but afterward when they build the strength to live with the aftermath. What a wonderful soul-wrenching writing. I couldn't believe that the author could outdo herself after the first part, but I stand corrected. Feyre is now my all-time favorite character. The struggles she went through, the pain she felt, and the darkness she wallowed were gut-wrenching to watch. Yes, to watch not to read as that's how I felt. It felt like the story just ran in front of your eyes. The twist between Rhysand and Feyre was really good, though I suspected a teeny tiny bit. I can't believe how I managed to go from hero-worshipping Tamlin to hating his guts in a span of few pages. Oh God, how I wish that justice gets served in the next part. It's so beautifully written, and I can't say it enough, but this is yet another masterpiece from the author. Kudos to her, and I'm rating it 5-star.

This book has the power to blow you away. It's THAT good.
I read A Court Of Thorns And Roses and loved it so much that I didn't think it was possible for me to love the next book in this series even more. But now tha I've read A court Of Mist And Fury, I know I was wrong. I'm even more in love with the series than before. ACOMAF is just FANTASTIC. This sequel is something even better than what you dreamed the sequel would be. I kept turning the pages and couldn't stop reading (and that's saying something as I'm currently studying for my finals too). This book is a beast (pun intended). But the plot, the romance, the anticipation of what's going to happen next, what twist and turn are you going to encounter (Thanks Sarah J. Maas) is literally going to keep you on the edge of your seat and you'll not realise how long thr book actually is. You'll be clawing out, shrieking, and gasping (that is, if you are a vocal reader and feeler) and wanting moreand more. This book is an action packed, high fantasy romance. There is a lot going on here. There are some themes of depression that are dealt in this book sprinkled with steamy sex scenes here and there. Though you can't skip on the depression parts (it's ingrained in the book, where Faerye is trying to overcome it) you can definitely skip the sex scenes if your uncomfortable with them. I say this because, not because personally bothered by it (I'm fine with anything), but to warn those who are uncomfortable with these topics when they are dealt with. If you've read ACOTAR, this shouldn't even bother you. But as the saying goes, 'to each, their own'. Depression and sex are a part of life and you should not skip this book because of that. The character development in this book is very interesting to read. I love all the characters but I have my favorites. This book is so well written that it does what it's meant to do, makes you feel what it's meant to make you feel. The ending is not exactly a cliff hanger as in the last book, but it's shocking enough. Overall, this book is an amazing sequel to ACOTAR. I highly recommend reading it specially if your a Sarah J. Maas fan or an ACOTAR fan. This book has been on the list of 'highly anticipated book of the year' of many people. And let me tell you, it was for a reason.

Fantasy at its best
Truly speaking, I had read this book within a week after it was published, but I couldn’t convince myself to write about it. I asked myself and tried to figure out the reason. I came to a vague conclusion that although I had read and understood the story, I still felt unsatisfied. Hence, I read the book again, this time more slowly and carefully. Believe me or not, I saw the whole book in a new light. I am glad that I re-read the book:) After re-reading it- ACOMAF, doesn’t remain just a fantasy fairy retelling for me anymore. It’s much more than that. It is about relations, about feelings, about fears, about transitions, about acceptance and about so much more which life can throw on our faces… ACOMAF also changed my opinions towards several characters dealt in the previous book. The way the whole plot developed and storyline progressed was entrancing. One could see beyond the words and understand the reasons and emotions connected with the actions of the characters. The acts appeared to be rash and weird sometimes, but their intent couldn’t be questioned. Sarah has played excellently with the characters. The characters grow onto you. I like the way the author molds the story-line to weave the new characters along with the old ones, without ruining the wholesome impact. The characters may cease to exist or fall in the background, but their presence is never forgotten. The adventures are so exciting!!! The thrill and the rush while reading those action sequences and adventures is beyond words. It just makes your eyes go running all over the pages, to know what awaits at the end of the adventure. But above all this, the thing which affected me the most was the emotional level of the whole story. The best part, for me, was that the feelings didn’t come at the surface immediately. They were definitely stirred while reading the book. But, they hit me on my face, like a storm, after I read the whole book through and was musing on it. It was completely overwhelming. Let us not forget the ending. I absolutely adore this skill of Sarah of leaving a thread to a new beginning, at the peak of the story’s ending phase. Though many of you may say that the threads are given by any author who writes the series; but you will also not disagree when I say – Sarah J Maas has got style!! All in all, this book is a beautiful piece of work… Sarah has outdone herself. I will not say that it is a flawless creation, but one can’t deny that this is one among the best.
