Bought this book to read on Holiday, Interesting insight into the world of Shakey and how the world of Motorcycle racing works away from the headlines and behind the scenes.Sad to read how an accident has such profound impact on him and his family.Great book

A rare thing - a brilliant sports autobiography.
I'm an long time motorcycle racing fan and have been a fan of Shane's ever since he won his first BSB title. He's always been approachable but I've read a few bike racer autobiographies and expected more of the same; 2-300 pages of, "Look how great I am".I have to say that I was very pleasantly surprised. None of the books I've read have engaged me like "Unshakeable".Very well written, the conversational style reads like you're in the room with Shane and he's telling you the story himself. I was hooked from the first chapter which, unlike any other book of this sort, is written by his wife Petra, who bookends it, providing even more depth and gives us an insight into (as she puts it) Shane the husband and father versus Shakey the racer.Shakey has long been a favourite with the fans and this book shows why. An honest, engaging and thoroughly enjoyable read. Highly recommended.

Every Motorcycle Racing Fan should read this
Having followed Motorcycle Racing from I was 10 years old, I read a lot of articles about the riders and their machines. But this is a must read book. Although from Northern Ireland I only saw Shakey race live at Silverstone, but I have been watching British Super Bikes on TV for years and saw Shakey win many times. The book tells of his ambition to become a Motor Bike Racer at a very young age and overcoming all the difficulties to eventually achieve his ambition and become one of Britain’s great racers. It is superbly written, filled with great stories, some funny and some sad. But very hard to set down once you start reading, even if you are not a fan of racing. Thanks for this Shakey!

Shakey Tells It Like It Was
Well, pretty much everything. Instead of blurbs attributed to $random_publication, he has blurbs from Wayne Rainey, Niall MacKenzie and Alex Lowes, and a foreword by Jonathan Rea. I guess none of them need any further introduction? He then starts his story, from his adoption and why he's never sought his birth parents, on through teenage hooning to becoming a writer/rider on Fast Bikes and and into becoming a professional race rider. This is where he could have gone a bit wrong by doing name dropping, but he actually knew/worked with/raced against all the names he mentions. He's also quite up front about saying "I signed for {redacted} but that was a mistake when he made what, with 20/20 hindsight, was a career mistake.

Typical sports biography - worth a read if you're a Shakey fan.
Purchased on Kindle on a Daily Deal. This is your typical sports biography. Shakey's story is perhaps a bit more interesting than others as it's arguable that he's had a somewhat 'rags to riches' rise to fame. I have followed him from the Fast Bikes days and a lot of the racing story is familiar to me.As the byline says; you don't get to be a six time BSB champ without being talented and Shakey has ridden MotoGP and WSB too. What lets the book down in my view is that it's written in the style of most sports biographies so it just feels a bit lightweight to me.If it pops up again as Daily Deal again AND you're a Shakey fan then it's worth 99p of your money, but it's not a sports book for the ages like The Glory Game or A Lot of Hard Yakka.

Shane and Shakey, brilliant story!
Got this for Christmas and was really excited to read it. I wasn't disappointed!. You can hear Shakey's voice as you read it, the ups and downs of his life have been amazing, and the love for his family and friends is fierce. If you loved reading about bikes, crashes, crazy times and serious moments all about the life of an amazing motorbike racer, this is the book for you. I have always held a high regard for Shakey, and this book reaffirmed that he is a stand up guy and a brilliant racer.
