Love these locks and the seller
These are super high quality unlike anything you will find at your local hardware store. There are lots of benefits to these locks including security keys, quality and durability as well as the name itself is a deterrent to thiefs. The name is clearly marked on the lock. The keys cannot be duplicated without special tools, there’s a process. The seller, Mike Robinson (mylockstore.com) was amazingly helpful and communicated with me over text message during the install (over the weekend!). Thank you, Mike!

Medeco Maxum Residential Deadbolt - Single... Medeco Security Locks
Mike the owner is fabulous, super helpful when I emailed and said to call anytime. And I did call him on a part I wasn't sure about he again was super helpful!!! Bought three locks from him not one problem with the first one I installed waiting on the other two to arrive and install. Once again Mike said call if I needed anything. Would highly recommend his company.

The lock itself is great. However
The lock itself is great. However, for three months now I am trying to locate the dealer that can cut a spare key for this lock. When they hear Freedom lock they sigh and wish me luck. The only place I found today is about an hour drive from me. And you have to be present at the time of order. Plus there is 3-4 weeks wait time to get them from factory. And I need to go back to pick them up.Even though the lock is great, it's not worth the hassle with the spare keys.Very disappointed in Medeco maintaining an accurate dealers' list.

Great lock misrepresenting condition
Seller claims it new it's not. Clearly received with box already open. Minor cosmetic damage, seal all opened before. (maybe a show display) No sighs of usage. All parts appears to be in thank goodness.I dont appreciate the seller of SmartLocks being deceiving. But Medeco is great lock still. I wasnt given a fake and good price for what it is.

Excellent security at a price
So after having to spend $125 to remove our jammed original deadbolt, which could not be removed except using a variety of brute force attacks, I waffled about whether to go with the high end Medeco or just buy a cheap crappy deadbolt like the one I replaced.I am a huge fan of Medeco locks and have been using them for years. For those of us who know anything about locks and lock quality, using a Schlage lock is the difference between an RC plane and a 747 jumbo jet. They may both be planes, but they are nothing at all alike beyond that.Medeco was bought out by Assa Abloy many years ago, adding the Medeco line to the already impressive Assa lock lines. There is no lock that is 'pick proof', and the Medeco is no exception. If you follow Bosnian Bill or the Lock Picking Lawyer, you will soon understand the difference between a high-security product and...garbage.The installation on this was above average in difficulty. The two components of the lock meet in the deadbolt in a very unusual and atypical way. When you install this lock, it is advisable to have two people on the job. I did it by myself, but I kept dropping parts as I was holding the lock with one hand and installing it with the other. The entire lock is a quality product. Medeco locks are world-renowned for their difficulty in both picking and drilling. Trying to pick this lock while it is installed and not in a vice is a challenge to the best of the best locksmiths. It took me some time to understand how the pieces assembled, but once you understand how the two parts work, it becomes much easier to install. The toughest part of all was installing the high-security strike plate. While you can use typical strike plates, doing so kind of negates the entire point of the dead bolt. To install this, I had to do quite a bit of chisel work to get the high security plate installed. Medeco includes both a standard (polished brass in my case) and galvanized strike plate. The high security plate screws in like any other plate, but there are two additional large-bore holes that you use the included 3" heavy duty screws in. These are screwed into the actual framing and not just the door frame. If you are not comfortable using a chisel, find someone else to do this for you. It's very easy to ruin the door frame.I did end up stripping out one of the high-security screws, which I'm pretty unhappy with. I've asked the vendorfor a replacement, but be warned that these are NOT 'high quality' screws. In my opinion, these stripped out way too easily. Fortunately, I was able to back out the screw using vise grips! I was worried that I might end up breaking off the screw, which would be a mess. While I'm sure the extra-long and extra-thick security screwswork just fine, Medeco really cut corners on this for no reason. The difference between what they included and a vastly higher quality stronger one is literally a penny or two more expensive. For $150, I expect ALL of the components to be super-high quality. The kit also includes some ball bearings that are placed in the bolt holes. Take my advise. Do not do this. If you do, you will never, ever get the lock out of the door again. NEVER. The purpose of the ball bearings, which is just another indicator of how high quality and detailed the Medeco locks are, is to prevent drilling out the bolts. I'm fairly certain once you have put these bearings in place, you will never remove the lock. All in all, a fairly complicated install that was not the same thing as buying a new identical deadbolt and replacing the old one. Another protip: PRE-DRILL all installation holes and lubricate with some dry soap on the screws to ease installation.
