Lysa Terkeurst wins every time
It's hard not to love anything she writes. The approach is almost 'duh' in a 'why didn't I think of it' way. She doesn't talk down like she's better than anyone, which is one of the reasons I love her.I also love the size of this book, lightweight and easy to throw in my bag to read on break, etc.

Excellent Book: No more excuses!!!
If you are a Christian and want to change those bad eating habits you will enjoy reading the author's own experience of her journey of weight loss. The spiritual guidance is very helpful.

Misleading Subject Matter
I'll admit, I should have read more fine print on this book. That it claims to be about 'spirituality' is incorrect from where I stand. Spirituality is open, subjective, and 'the quality of being concerned with the human spirit or soul as opposed to material or physical things'. I am non-denominationally spiritual, formerly raised Catholic. This book is about Christianity/God, specifically, and vehemently. To say it is about spirituality is much too vague, and almost offensive. God was only mentioned twice on the cover, but it feels like every other word inside the pages.I was so excited, as a Holistic Nutritionist, to gain more insight on eating habits/emotional eating. The added bonus of it being spiritual sounded perfect! The table of contents sounds great! But as mentioned in many reviews, there are scripture quotes riddled throughout the book. No shame that this is the angle taken, I just wish it was more explicitly known, since it is explicit in the book. Not what I expected. I wonder if it's repackaged from 'Made to Crave' to try to get misled non-religious sells, as that book is is clearly about ones deep desire with God. Happy that others seem to enjoy it. Very much not for me.

Excellent
Bought to do guided study with Author and it was great. As a Christian it opened my eyes to things I'd never thought about with my relationship with food and God. Helped lots.

Nothing new
The author basically gave up carbs and sugar to lose weight and threw some scripture at it. The scriptures used are largely out of context to the applications eg “look how eve was tempted by an apple, you might be tempted by food too”.She used sheer willpower to the point of crying on her bathroom floor to stop herself eating brownies. Ridiculous.I was hoping for so much more from this book - a way to address my relationship with food from a Christian perspective. But no…no carbs, no sugar, exercise and hire a nutritionalist seems to be the main thing, plus praying to stop you craving chocolate which comes from the devil apparently.
