MSI B550M PRO Motherboard M-ATX - Supports AMD Ryzen 3rd Gen Processors, AM4, DDR4 Boost (4600MHz/OC), 1 x PCIe 4.0/3.0 x16, 1 x M.2 Gen4 x4, HDMI, Gigabit LAN

For those wondering like I did, this works out the box with the newer ryzen 5 5600x!!! Reason I bought it because my previous motherboard was too outdated for my new ryzen 5600x! Great motherboard at a great price .

Having ordered the b550m Pro to build a gaming machine for my son, it soon became apparent i should've gone with something else.The board looks well made and has many great features.. however it does not have the capability to flash the bios via usb (without turning on pc) as other boards do, which makes it kinda pointless if you wish to jump in straight away with a 5th gen cpu. However you can use a 3rd or 4th gen to access the bios and flash it that way, if you have one.This particular board has only one sys fan header, so you are limited in the amount of fans you can connect. Also the JRainbow and the JRGB headers seem to be intermittent at best so not ideal if you like lots of flashing lights.Finally the main cause of my distress was no matter what i tried i could not get the board to accept 2 x 3000mhz of corsair ram it seems to be a problem on the second ram slot (b1) as it will accept 1 8gb stick in a1. i enabled the A-xmp bios and tinkered with a couple of other settings. I even flashed to a more recent bios update but still no joy.The first board was bad luck but the second one amazon sent out was exactly the same. My recommendation is go with something else, there are cheaper and alot better boards out there.I did plenty of digging on the internet and friends and the best i could figure out is that many people experience issues with the B550M boards and the 3600 processor. Also the particular board I bought doesn't appear to be widely used so not too much information regarding that exact board.I am in the process of returning both boards, Amazon have been helpful in that respect. just bad luck for me. I've gone with the B450 tomahawk ii at half the price as I've used it in past builds and it works well.

The board itself when running and working is good and has some average features. We were not looking for much in terms of gaming but are using for our office PC's.We coupled the board with AMD Ryzen 5600G. Be warned that this will not work right out the box and requires a 3000, 4000 or 5000 non-G version chip to update the BIOS. Was lucky to have a 5600X to boot past the post and then could update the BIOS to version 7D14v25.Then put 5600G in and a way we go.Good speeds when coupled with a M2 NVMe. Bought 15 and only had to return 1 due to a fault.

I bought this with a 5600G processor which the motherboard failed to recognise, despite the MSI website saying that the 5600G was supported and the processor having been released a year ago.Fortunately I had another PC with an older AM4 socket processor, so I could put that in this motherboard and update the BIOS. The installed BIOS was 18 months old.After that I put the 5600G back in and it booted fine, but I wasted a load of time over this and I was lucky I had a compatible CPU in the house. When I've used the PC for a few weeks, and maybe when I'm a bit less annoyed, I might update this review.

As noted by one of the other reviewers this board does NOT recognise the Ryzen 5 5600G out of the box despite clearly stating that it is supported on the MSI website. It may well be that a BIOS update can resolve this but not everyone has a spare Gen 3 CPU hanging around and there is no way of doing this via USB flash etc. on this device.If you are in the market for a similar but much better B550 M-ATX board I would recommend the Gigabyte B550M DS3H. This had no issues recognising the 5600G and has the added benefit of having 4 RAM slots (MSI Pro has 2) and 2 M.2 NVME slots (MSI Pro has 1)

Wem diese Anschlussmöglichkeiten reichen ist mit dem Mainboard gut aufgehoben. Man sollte die Preise und der Ausstattung der Mainboards richtig beobachten. Hab mir zum Geburtstag einen ryzen 5 5500 bestellt und dieses Motherboard. Das Motherboard hat im Endeffekt nicht funktioniert und einen halben Tag Meines Lebens verbraucht. Als ich mein altes Motherboard wieder installieren wollte ging es auch nichtmehr, weil dieses wundermotherboard mit meinen speicherplatten rumgespielt hat. Hab dann die andere Hälfte des Tages im BIOS rumgespielt um es wieder zum laufen zu kriegen.Facit: Wenn ihr einen ganzen Tag eueres lebens wegschmeißen wollt und am ende nichts bekommen wollt, dann ist dies das perfekte Produkt dafür. (P.s. Wenn das cpu Licht bei euch leuchtet, könnt ihr das Motherboard sofort wieder zurückschicken, dagegen hilft nichts)

Bought 2x boards and 2 chips. Now I cannot use the bios needs to be updated. In order to do this I need to buy another chip. What a mess.
