A great read that has you wanted the next volume right away
3.5 StarsThe McCullagh Inn in Maine was a fast-paced read with an exciting plot and the perfect amount of steaminess.Chelsea O’Kane escapes Miami with a gun and a mountain of secrets heading for her childhood home in Maine to seek sanctuary in the inn left to her by her aunt. Determined to start over, Chelsea sets out to renovate the inn when she runs into the man she fled from ten years ago, Jeremy Holland. As Chelsea and Jeremy become reacquainted while renovating the inn, the past Chelsea escaped from in Miami begins closing in.I enjoy second chance at love romances and the relationship in this book perfectly fits that category. It’s clear from their first interaction that Chelsea and Jeremy never got over one another. The two end up starting a physical relationship fairly quickly and the scenes contained the perfect amount of steaminess. Despite the enjoyable aspects of the relationship, I did have a few problems particularly on the Jeremy end of things. Jeremy is very pushy with Chelsea as he’s determined not to lose her again after her vanishing act ten years ago. My problem was that at times he was too pushy and had a tendency to overrule Chelsea’s decisions. I also disliked the secret he was keeping from her that ultimately just added unnecessary drama. When we find out what Chelsea was running from, I was intrigued. I was curious how she found herself in the situation she was in and I admired her willingness to do anything to escape. The storyline added a nice element of suspense while not fully pushing the book into the romantic suspense category. Richard is definitely a great villain and the author does an amazing job getting you to hate the man. With the way the book ended, I’m curious to see how this plot ties into the rest of the series as things are left a bit on the open-ended side.Overall I really enjoyed The McCullagh Inn in Maine despite Jeremy’s tendency to be a bit too overbearing. I will definitely be continuing with the series and recommend it if you’re looking for a quick, steamy read.

Very quick
This was a good book. You meet Chelsea and Jeremy. Chelsea fled her town 10 years ago after she thought the man she loved didn't love her and was marrying another woman. Little did she know that Jeremy was just slow to realize that he loved her to. She fled to Miami changed her life and became a lawyer and prosecutor. She started a relationship with a guy that she eventually learned was on the take. He was abusive and she killed him and fled home. Running into Jeremy. Jeremy is not what she thinks, when she finds out she throws him out. She is starting over and fixing up her Aunt's Inn that was left to her. She also feels she has no choice but to go to the federal authorities. The book takes a dramatic turn. I don't want to spoil anymore for you. The only downside to the book was unfolded quick and ended. It was too quick and felt rushed and there was no epilogue

As advertised . . .
I'm no reader. I haven't read a fiction book in 20 years. But after hearing about the BookShots series I decided to give them a go. This was the first in the series that I've consumed The books are as advertised; quick easy reads. I read it in one afternoon/evening. The story was interesting, with the plot unfolding at a quick pace. I'll leave it to more experienced readers to determine if the characters were well developed or the dialogue was too predictable. I enjoyed it, and will most likely will order more books in the series.

I Love A Maine Inn
In The McCullagh Inn in Maine by Jen McLaughlin, Chelsea has led a sad life. For one, her father spent years in prison. Then, she experienced an unhappy marriage with Richard and a guy named Jeremy broke her heart. Now the cartels are following her. Trying to fix up an aunt's inn in Maine becomes quite the ordeal. We follow Chelsea, Richard, her brother, Paul, through hardships. It's not easy for Chelsea to trust again. Who is lying? Who is telling the truth? It's really not easy to fall in love again either.I have a feeling Maine is very pretty. I wanted to read about some of the places in "The McCullagh Inn In Maine, but didn't see any bushes, hear the ocean or even a hill with blueberries.

Short and Sweet Mystery/Romance
I was looking for a quick, easy read and this fit the bill. This book is a good fit for those who enjoy mystery and romance and like to occasionally be on the edge of their seat waiting to figure out what is going to happen. The first in a series, I plan to read the next book.

McCullagh Inn
The basic story was the same as other books I had read. What got my attention was the ending. I did not see it coming and was quite surprised! I would recommend this book to other readers.

Suspense & Drama
A very captivating and dramatic book! The story moves quickly and this was easy reading...exactly the right layout for me, as my reading downtime is very limited, with 2 young children at home.

Very disappointed. Easy to tell what was going to happen
Very disappointed. Easy to tell what was going to happen. Cannot believe James Patterson was associated with this story. Wont bother reading anymore of his Bookshots series. Has put me off James Patterson and have been an avid reader in the past.
