The content is well organized and provides a comprehensive overview of contemporary art themes after 1980. It’s an excellent resource for anyone studying or interested in modern visual art. Highly recommended for academic use!" Review: Amazing text, wish the binding held up better - As an art major, I’m reading this text for supplementation to prepare for the next level. It’s so well-written and engaging. I love the way it’s organized and can’t wait to get through it all! My only complaint is that the binding is barely holding up after less than a week of reading! I’m going to lose whole chunks of text. Will probably take it to Kinkos and have it put in a binder. I’m grateful to have gotten this at a very reasonable price, but wish it held up a bit better.

Good content terrible binding
The book has been working well for a class I am teaching, but the book binding is really bad. All the pages are falling out as I make my way through the book!

THIS BOOK IS FALLING APART
The contents of the book are fabulous. However, I bought this book for school (at $60 a book) and it is falling apart. The book is a apparently not well made and I have chunks of 20+ pages fall out of the book. I need this book for school but it is hardly usable and who the heck can afford to buy another at $60 dollars a book. I am very disappointed

What's with the binding??
I'm ONLY giving this text one star because of the atrocious binding- just as the other reviewers have said. You'd think for the price you have to pay that you'd get a book that doesn't fall apart while you're reading it. Using it for class is so frustrating!! :(

Horrible Binding
The content of the book is great! However, the physical book has horrible binding. As soon as I opened to a chapter the first page instantly popped out and with every page turn after that, more pages fell out. I had to tape them all together. Very disappointing considering I spent $70 for a faulty book.

This is a really good book that I use as a text for a art course. I was excited to see that a 5th edition was available because the 4th edition was printed in 2015 and a lot has gone on in the art world in the last 5 years. Unfortunately as soon as you open the book, all the pages fall out. I had recommended all my students purchase this for the course and the same thing has happened to them. I think it is important that customers know what they are getting into when making a purchase, and reviews are a great way for them to get information.

I had to purchase this book for university but after frequent use, more than 50 pages have started to let go of the spine. It has only been used for reading and studying and has never left my desk so the quality of the construction of this book is very poor. (Perhaps not enough glue? Not adhesive enough?) I recommend getting a different edition. This is one is not worth its price.

Expensive, but arrived new, and reasonably quickly, and item as described.

The content in the book itself is very interesting; however, the binding is falling apart. The first chapter has began to detach itself from the spine and I predict that as I read further into the book the next chapters will follow suit. I bought this book for a university course and the rest of my class had also reported that their books are faulty. I did not have this issue with the previous edition of this textbook. This is very upsetting. I would not recommend buying this book until the issue with the binding is corrected.

Like the other reviews on this page, I have a book that is falling apart. I just got it, read only the introduction and one chapter before the pages fell away from the spine. I really don't know how to rate this: the content is so far very good but I doubt the book will last long enough for me to read it and keep it for reference. So far the publisher hasn't responded to the previous reviews, so I think Amazon should step in and do something about this. I paid a lot of money for something that is not going to perform as expected.
