Sit Without Tailbone Pain

I have a seriously ill lady, with many major problems. She's been in hospitals now for several months, and has become extremely deconditioned. To get back and forth to doctors, when she's out of the hospital, we use a medical transport system. It's an important service, but there's often a wait of at least an hour. KF, as I'll call her, has no body muscle, no subcutaneous fat, and no padding at all. She has to sit in a wheelchair, waiting. Then there's the bumpy ride, then the doctor appointments, a ride back and so forth. This lady has so much pain in her tail-bone, it's excruciating. She's in tears after about 10 minutes, and can hardly bear it during one of the appointment days. It's terrible! Then there's wheeling to meals at the facility, PT and other sitting events. She can't stand up, and never gets a chance to build muscles before the next medical crisis. Why the long story? Because today, we gave this cushion a test run. KF was in the ICU for 4 days, and released for transport, scheduled at 1:30pm. They got her into the chair with the new cushion, using a power lift, at around 1:15pm. We sat for 1 hour and 10 minutes, before the transport showed up. I kept asking her, "How's your tail-bone?" "Fine!" The ride was about half an hour, then a bit of wait until she could be lifted out of the chair, back to bed. By the time I showed up, about 3 hours had passed and I didn't know what I'd find. Usually, she's in such pain she gets a Vicodin, and can hardly function for the rest of the day. Not this time! Using this cushion, KF was about as "normal" as she'd been prior to getting into the wheelchair! Unbelievable! No tail-bone problems, no muscle cramping, no leg pain, no shoulder pain, and no arm and elbow pain, from trying to constantly adjust in the chair. Since she can't move much, it's very hard for her to even squirm around at the moment, but she didn't have to! This is a superb pillow. We've had it only one day, but I can't believe how much we're pinning our hopes on something so basic. Back at the facility, I showed it to a guy who's lost a leg and had major cellulitis. His spine has degenerated to bone-on-bone, and he can barely sit in a wheel-chair for more than an hour. There's nothing he can do, but he's robust, has a solid body with a lot of padding, but has almost no spinal support whatsoever. He was astonished at how comfortable we was when we tried out the pillow. Fingers crossed, hoping it lasts. I've rarely seen something that provides so much relief in such a basic way. UPDATE: This is absolutely a lifesaver! Within 1 week of using the cushion, KF's tailbone was mostly healed. She can now sit for the many hours in waiting rooms, PT or other problems. TIP: If you're using this with incontinence situations, definitely by two! If there's an issue, the outer fabric covering is easy to wash. But the inner memory foam isn't so easy, and takes forever to dry. MAJOR TIP: You can take off the outer casing, then cover the foam cushion with a 13-gal trash bag. Replace the casing, and the plastic bag isn't noticeable at all when used for sitting. However, it prevents liquids from soaking into the foam. The cushion is so critical you'll want a backup while the outer casing for the soiled one is in the wash.

Used it to drive 16 hours to Florida as past trips really hurt. It truly made a huge difference in the pain I got from sitting for so long. It’s comfortable, soft, and doesn’t slide around. I also use it at home when I have pain in my SI joint and sitting hurts. It helps to alleviate the pressure. It’s held up very well and is just the right thickness and firmness.

My husband climbs ladders all day and drives from place to place so sits in his truck many hours per day. His bum and lower back were starting to bother him and he’s had siatica and back surgery in past. I researched for days what seat cushion to buy him to help. This one had great reviews so I chose it. It works great he said super comfortable, doesn’t slide on seat when getting in and out. He did however need to adjust his power seat making it lower because he was hitting the roof interior. Lol. I deducted 1 star for this reason. It’s made with the contouring memory foam and also some gel which helps cushion and mold to your body. Also said it won’t get as hot as others when it’s warm. Super right. Yep. But we live in a cold area and this past week it was maybe 3 degrees, lots of snow, and even colder feels like from wind chill. It definitely doesn’t make it bum hot as nothing ever mentioned in winter and cold areas it freezes up. So now he’s going to bring it in the house every day after work and put back in the morning. Haha.

I have had this for over four years now. It's still in great condition, and I can't live without it. I have siatica as well as some disc compression issues and this keeps me from having walking issues after long periods of sitting. It works so we'll that I bought a second one to keep in my office. As a frequent flyer, I also fold in half the one I have at home and take it when I travel (2+ hour road trips as well). It's amazing the comfort it gives on short and especially super long flights. I land without worrying about walking in pain, feeling like my leg is about to go out from under me, or coccyx tenderness. When it folds it can fit into my carryon so that's an extra plus. I recommend it to anyone I know with back/spine issues.

I bought this for my husband. He has a recliner that needs to be replaced due to it being greatly used. He said his back was bothering him and so for a temporary fix, I bought this foam seat cushion. He said it has helped with his lower back pain and his tailbone feeling sore. Yes, he still needs a new recliner but this seems to have been a temporary fix. It came vacuum sealed in plastic and suggests 48 hours before it is back to it's original fluffed state. Oh, and he used it on a long car ride (4+ hours) and usually he's shifting in his seat after an hour or so but this cushion allowed a longer time sitting. I am interested in using it or purchasing one for myself while I work. I tend to sit for hours in a desk chair and my lower back is feeling the impact of that over the years. If or when I do, I'll come back and update this review. Based on the hubs opinion of this seat cushion, I'd recommend it.

Perfect for post-op after a hip replacement surgery when you have to sit with your hips above your knees in early recovery. Super supportive and comfortable. Good quality memory foam!! I’ll be using this long after my recovery. It’s comfortable in every chair!!

It is a great cushion for desk chair! It does start feeling you are sitting on a rock, but after a few minutes it becomes comfortable. And it enables me to sit for like 5 hours and feel no pain, which sitting without the cushion, only took 2 hours. Nearly perfect!
