The Visitor: A Graphic Novel (Animorphs #2) (Animorphs Graphic Novels)

Good adaptation
As a fan when the series first came out I love these. It's amazing to see them out for another generation to enjoy and to see them in graphic form. My only complaint and it's enough that I only gave it 4 star is the art. The characters all tend to look a like in the face. They all have the same ruddy cheeks and slightly bulbous nose. Think Santa Claus noses and cheeks. And this is the main characters. Jake and Rachael are basically the same face with different hair. Definitely worth a read though.

visual 1:1 retelling of the animorphs series.
So glad they finally made a graphic novel out of my favorite childhood book series.2 things though.Maybe don't order from amazon. The book arrived in a box too large for the book, so it was thrown around pretty bad. cover and a few pages were creased/folded. Got book 1 and 3 from Books A Million and the pages were pristine.Grines' art style will take a minute to get used to. He illustrates animals and backgrounds beautifully. Love how he made the morphing process grotesque. ... but he has "same-face" syndrome when it comes to drawing humans. All the human characters look the same. If it wasn't for hair color and skin color you'd have a hard time telling people apart.I wouldn't let that deter from purchase though. The books are a 1:1 recreation of the series, and (other than faces) is really well illustrated. Fans will want to have these.

I quite enjoyed it. Was a big fan of the series when I was much younger and it's cool to see them in graphic novel format. Keep 'em comin'!

Fantastic
Animorphs got me into reading and deeply influenced the type of fiction/story telling I remain interested in as an adult.Chris Grine's first graphic novel adaptation, The Invasion, was pretty much everything I hoped it would be. No complains. The follow up, The Visitor, is even better. I haven't gone back to look at The Invasion, and maybe it's just that I've started reading comics consistently the last year, but the artwork is excellent. Again, I had no complaints with #1, but the character designs feel sharper and Grine's layouts are so clean without being boring or too simple. I especially enjoy his use of white space--oddly reminds me of Deadly Class at times haha.As for the story, such an important book for Rachel, my favorite (Marco notwithstanding, of course). I'll never forget reading, as a ~9 year old, how Rachel pushed her morphing limits so she could cuddle with Melissa. Just..so sad.My only complaint is another year long wait! KA got these out on a monthly basis Chris........ /s !!

Great for nostalgic adults
I bought this for my girlfriend, who is a huge animorphs fan, for her 21st birthday. She had gone out to the bar before I was able to give her her presents, so she was SMASHED when I finally was able to give them to her. Included were both the first and second Animorphs grafic novels. She broke into tears (which is unusual for her, though it might have been the drinks) when she opened them and she couldn't stop talking about how much it meant to her. I never read Animorphs as a kid, so I have no interest in this personally, but if you're buying these as a gift for someone who did, I'd say these are perfect.

Another Fantastic Graphic Adaptation
Grine's work is phenomenal, and the adaptation works well and I can't wait for the next one.

More Please!
I'm 32 and the original books meant soooo much to me when I was a kid. They helped me handle abuse I was given and sparked a bit of fire within me... In a good way! Seeing it as a graphic novel brings it back to life in a new way that others may be more interested in. To see beloved characters on paper (or in my case, digital), absolutely love it.How many more kids, and even adults, will be reached with this!? Will it spark the same fire in other kids who were like me?I haven't read the actual books in just over a year but I don't believe there were many changes for this one. One scene really got me, the one with Rachel and Jordan, well done.Oh please do the whole series!!

Fun revival of a beloved series
I'm excited as these continue to come out!! I think Grine caught his stride with this one, the flow is a bit more natural than the first volume and there were a few moments where I laughed out loud from Applegate's dialogue even though iv read it before. I still wish the characters could be more expressive: its not that they're stiff but sometimes the expressions they're making aren't exactly what the dialogue calls for, for instance when they're excited abt flying as birds and they all have serious expressions. Cassie and Marco were particularly well drawn and expressive in this volume, and the MORPHING SEQUENCES were gloriously disgusting, I loved that! The panel in the picture I uploaded looks just like Envy's true form from Fullmetal Alchemist and it cracked me up!

Perfect Adaptation
Chris Grine just GETS Animorphs. As a long time fan of the books who started reading them as a preteen when they were first published, I adore these adaptations and sincerely hope they'll continue to be made until Chris is finally sick of doing them lol. Perfect sci fi for pre-teens/teens with a lot of heart and humor and just the perfect touch of age appropriate body horror.
