Kondo & Kezumi Visit Giant Island (Kondo & Kezumi, 1) Paperback – April 6, 2021

We got this as a gift from a friend and have since read this book approximately 1,000 times! It is so creative and cleaver. Our 4 year old ADORES Kondo and Kezumi and their adventures. I never leave reviews but saw there were only a few here was am compelled to share the goodness that is this book series!!! The story is a great read (for parent too!!) the images and drawings are bright and engaging…. It’s a magical series and a MUST for kiddos! I have a stack of 4-5 of these that I now save to give out as gifts. We’ve gotten all the cousins into the book series!!!!

My son is transitioning from picture books to chapter books and these books are perfect. The gorgeous illustrations keep him involved in the story and there are just enough chapters for him not to lose interest. We've read everyone in the serious multiple times. I hope there's a fourth coming! I'd love to find similar titles!

I had no idea illustrated chapter books were a thing, but this book was exactly what my 5-year-old needed to inspire a new possibility for reading. For the first time, rather than him asking me to read the same book over and over again, he was asking for the next chapter. He wanted to hear the continuation of this story, instead of just hearing the same story every night. As a parent, I thought this story was charming and funny and very cute. My son loved it, too. He insisted that we order the second book right away. So we did! And we are totally in love with Kondo and Kezumi!

I ordered this book for my first grader as he's ready for more chapter books and I'm having a hard time finding one that will challenge him but still keep his interest. This one is really great for him- mostly because the pictures are super cute. The storyline is a bit juvenile, repetitive and awkward sometimes, but so is my kid so it's fine. I like that the chapters are super short so he feels like he's accomplishing a lot when reading this. The names are hard for him to pronounce, but that'll change as he becomes more familiar with them. The island seems a bit manipulative, but other than that it's a great little book for my kid to practice reading and retention.

This is an excellent series if you’re looking to make the jump to chapter books. I first got this book last year for selfish reasons, I needed something with more substance for bedtime reading with my five year old. It ended up being exactly what we needed. He was more engaged and I was less bored. We’ve since read the next book and we like it too.

This is such a fun imaginative story. All 3 of my kids love it. We have repeatedly got it (and the sequels) from the library so I knew it was time to buy it to keep at home. We are avid readers, and this is one of my all time favorites. I just purchased 5 more to give as Christmas gifts!

This was my 4 year olds 1st venture into chapter books. He was very excited to see what happens next time. Nice story, good graphics. We like it.

My 6 year old LOVE this book. So much that we ordered the second one right away and we just go back and forth reading these every night. They're well written and the illustrations are colorful and really hold his interest. He loves to shout "To adventure!" with Kezumi and then grumble "To something" with Kondo. Can't wait for the next set of adventures!
