Window security- Do you want piece of mind regarding break ins through your sliding window? This deceptively simple product can help! But first, let’s take a moment and be realistic about window security. It’s glass. It slides. This two things tell us that the window COULD be breached by a rock, bat, stick, crowbar, or a protected foot or fist! If a person wants iron clad security, a glass window is out. So becuase we all have windows, we should focus on delaying and preventing a break in and understand that no window can truly be made burglar PROOF. But this device will absolutely help. It’s so simple and inexpensive too! Works best on windows that slide open HORIZONTALLY. You peel and stick a strip of supplied Velcro into your window track. Simply set the plastic Belcro backed wedge in place. Is provides resistance that prevents sliding the window open. And becuase it’s a strip of Velcro, you can set it to where your window is partially open for ventilation but still has a measure of security. For the MOST security minded window, be sure your are using whatever built in window latch that came with your window, then use this as a supplementary security device. You could also double down with a window bar or my favorite...a little window latch with a butterfly screw thar simply makes it harder to slide the window open. Most of my windows are secured with this wedge device plus the window frame clamps with butterfly screws that simply hand tighten into place. No drilling, no hammering. No skill needed whatsoever to make your home safer! You can even use these while traveling at your hotel or Airbnb! Talk about inexpensive piece of mind! This is such a cheap investment in increasing home safety- truly these can work in most homes with sliding windows. No tools or skill needed to install. History: I had some new vinyl windows installed and the top (double hung) window kept slipping down so that I could not properly lock the windows as they did match up by 1/8" of an inch or so. I had multiple workmen and the original contractor come out and I was shown how to push the top window up by these window technicians. This would keep the top widow up for awhile, but eventually the top windows would start edging down again where I could not lock the windows for safety. I did not have the strength to push up the top window every single time I wanted the windows open and closed/locked on a daily basis. I searched for safety window lock solutions and found these which I thought for the price, they were worth a try. Advertisers stress child safety reasons to use these as you can adjust the wedge as to how high you want the bottom window to be open just enough so that you can get ventilation, but a child cannot get out and the window cannot be raised beyond where you want it by someone outside of your window either. You can affix the wedge semi-permanently if you have small children's safety in mind. For my purposes and wanting varied degrees of the windows being open, I just insert the wedge in between the top and bottom window as needed and you cannot raise the window any higher. So, for my purposes these work for me and my safety needs.

I bought these to use on my second story windows. I have a 3-year-old son and having the windows fully open is not an option, but we like to open them on nice days. I installed these wedges when my son was not around, I didn't want him to even notice these them. If he became interested, he could remove these easily. So far, they are working out well. We can have the window slightly open, get some nice breezes and he has never paid attention to the windows. So, I am happy. They give me a little extra piece of mind because they would slow him down if he suddenly got interested in opening the window further. These will not keep your children as safe as window bars would. But, they are easy to install, easy to remove and provide some extra piece of mind when used in a situation where children are supervised. They will prevent a child from falling out a window while you momentarily have your back turned. I don't know if I would rely on these wedges at night while I'm sleeping. We just close the windows at night.

Amazing. I spent a lot of time reading reviews of other similar products before I decided to try these. First of all, I realize no product is truly burglar proof/safe. But I love those. We live in a ranch home and our HVAC is on the way out. I actually have portable stand up A/C unit to help cool our front room and it needs to vent out the window. I applied these to the window and they work great. You cannot pull the top window down and you cannot push the bottom window up. If a dedicated burglar wanted in, it would take him long enough for us to notice and call 911. In the end, a burglar would probably just bust a window after messing with this thing. We have our Nest camera positioned to also watch this area in case a possible intruder approaches the windows or tampers with it. But it will not be easy. I had my boyfriend attempt to yank the window open or pull down the top window. He could NOT do it within a few minutes. I feel safer now leaving the window cracked to vent the portable A/C with these in and my Nest camera watching while I am at work or asleep. I used two wedges in that window on either side. We have double hung, triple paned windows. These were easy to apply. I love being able to reposition the wedge to different height. such a simple product that works great. We wanted something a bit more temporary and didn't want to put screws into the new window casements and crack them. Also great because once our HVAC is replaced then I still use these on pretty days when I want to leave the windows cracked. I am definitely going to order more for our other windows too.

This product is great, easy to install and does what it should...HOWEVER!!!!! Holy overpriced! It you look at amazon.com you will see the exact same product for $9.99. The Canadian price is a total joke.
