The regular scotch tape may not have enough stretch for a textured surface, you could try that blue or green painter's tape. You can use a sharpie on it and fold a corner for easy removal, or put another one over it. I use painter's tape to label where and when I bought my groceries from so I know what I should be eating next. I find it comes in handy for other labels and reminders on doors as the tape clings better to all kinds of surfaces. It's cheaper than the sticky notes also. For removing SHARPIE Ink, Rubbing alcohol works well. But wear gloves or use a thick cloth or paper towel so you avoid staining and drying out your fingers. I sometimes leave notes on glass or mirrors and the alcohol cleanup is very effective.
