Fierce
What a wonderful retelling of this classic tale of Snow White. She is strong, kind and intelligent. Deep morals and empathy written in deep and multifaceted characters that you want to fight for. I look forward to the next installment.

Beautiful alternate Snow White tale
I loved the bastardization of the Snow White tale. Snow being clever & intelligent was a given (come on, it's Emma Dean), but it's is possibly my favorite part. Most Snow White retellings have her kind of vapid & reactionary instead.I desperately need to know Devana's full backstory. The tiny tidbits we get are fascinating & not enough! lolI'm very excited to see more of the dwarves; loved the name changes. Looking forward to seeing the characterization connections there, if any.As with all Emma Dean books, grammar & spelling was top notch. Nothing was superfluous, every scene has a reason to be there. Even the couple sexy scenes are tasteful & well placed, not titillating for titillating sake (not that I thought that would happen).

Loved the F/F take on a classic
Another good read by Emma dean. This series might be shaping up to be one of my favorite retellings of snow white. It has many of the themes that we love in snow white and add great depth to the characters.Snow wants to be the queen that her people deserve but when you are taught one thing but the truth is different it can be eye opening. But once your eyes have been open what do you do about it?Devana is the silent huntswoman who is suppose to protect snow but works for snows stepmom who snow doesn't fully trust. Devana has to make choices that she didn't see herself having to make. Both of this characters grow alot within this book and I can't wait to see what happens next.

This book was kinda strange.
I didn’t enjoy it, but I didn’t hate it either. It didn’t have much of a plot at first because there was nothing but Snow and Devana pining after each other. It became more interesting when there was an actual plot involved and not just romance. It was good enough to keep me reading, but not good enough for me to really contemplate reading more of the series.

Nice Lesfic Retelling of Snow White - 4 1/2 Stars
I quite enjoyed this first in series lesfic Snow White retelling from Emma Dean. Snow is endearing, if maybe a tad too perfect. Snow White's huntress, Devana, is an interesting character, and I hope we learn more about her back story in future books. I also hope for a bit more steam in future installments. My only slight complaint is that we're supposed to distrust Snow's stepmother based solely on Snow's instinct until she reveals her darker side. It's a bit along the lines of telling, rather than showing. Overall, I give it 4 1/2 stars and I look forward to the next book.

An empowering twist on an old story!
I liked this book and look forward to the next. Initially, I was drawn to the cover (it’s colorful with two good looking babes the point of focus) but thought “not another lesbian take on a Fairy Tale!”Happily, as I began to read it, I was drawn in. It’s not a perfectly developed plot, but hits the highlights of the original story and is an interesting twist of the original plot. Has mild sex and is a cliffhanger.

Yup. I am here for this!!
Oh man. Why do I have to want to know more about the Queen? Her story peaked my interest far more than snow and her Huntress, but still, a unique retelling with some sapphic flair to an already beloved fairy tale. Onto the second book!

Something different
I was looking to try something different and I’ve always loved Emma’s writings in her other series so I’d thought to give this a try.Magic, faery-touched, blood curses, blood oaths and forbidden love. This was fast paced and there were plenty of characters introduced and I’d be interested in seeing where they all end up, especially a very bold Princess ‘Charming’.

Definitely worth the read
This was so good. I had trouble putting it down. It was a refreshing take on a classic, full of love and desire. Lots of mystery too. The next book definitely has some explaining to do, but I look forward to it and can't wait for it's release.

Amazing
This was so good, one of the best story tellings I've read. This was especially unique for me because of the romantic relationship. I love the dynamic between the characters, I love that things aren't black and white and I love the direction this is headed. Highly recommend to everyone into lesfic books and fairytale retellings.

Love me a strong female lead!
My first journey in this genre ff. What strong female characters. They are extremely well written. This is just a really wonderful take on a classic fairy tale but it gives you so much more. I found some parts a little repetitive but I have a feeling it could be to really throw off where the story is going and lull the reader into a false sense of security! It is sexy it is dark and it is well worth reading.

A fantastic retelling
In so many versions of the Snow White tale, Snow is a demure, one-dimensional character. This book finally gives her the personality she deserves! In this version, Snow retains the classic beauty and her graceful manner with people. But she also has real opinions, and a level of determination you don't see in classic fairytales. She knows that she wants a life with Devana, her Huntress, and she's working to get it while doing right by her people.I also really liked the character of the stepmother in this version. Her wickedness and cunning are wonderfully balanced by a love for Snow, who is truly considered a daughter to her. Again, it's adding new layers to what used to be one-dimensional characters. This looks to be an exciting trilogy, filled with romance, plot-twists, and magic. I can't wait for book 2!Side note: I hope we get a spin-off book about Prince Edward and the sea witch. That sounds so fun to read!
