My back "went out" for the first time last weekend. It didn't say anything, no note, it just left. Abruptly and without hesitation. After several hours of laying on the floor of my living room, I ordered the only lumbar support available on Amazon Now! (Also, a chocolate bar and some icy hot. The chocolate bar was delightful and the icy hot was much needed, but) the "support" I got was just a strip of neoprene with some velcro. As soon as I could see through my delirium I read that the item, despite being touted as a lumbar support was in fact a "waist trainer." It was hot, it offered little support and I don't recommend wearing such a thing after liberally applying icy hot. By this time, I had spent considerable time on the floor and priced out some new carpet that would be much more comfortable to collapse upon if my back decided to step out again. The carpet I chose cost a little more than I would have liked to spend, so I had to save some cash on a better back support. I found this product to be reasonably priced and I could see from the very accurate product images and description, that it would offer significantly more support than the piece of junk on which I'd already wasted some cash. This product is so reasonably priced in fact, that even with one day shipping, the total cost was less than a lot of other options that I believe would not have been as structurally sound, breathable, or properly sized. This product is sturdy, offering firm support, but is also comfortable to wear and really takes pressure off the back. It did not make me more popular or attractive, but I can do cool things like sit up and reach for things. Since I purchased this just as described, quickly shipped, and very helpful product, I've been able to start picking up the pieces one at a time. I only wish I'd ordered this item sooner. Not only because it got my back to come back from a serious bender, but because it gave me the back bone I needed to quit a job that I hate and move to sunny California. Still going to have to redo the carpet before selling the house though.

Bought this while recovering from a severe back sprain that had caused me to be almost bedridden. Every movement hurt, but bending and turning were the worst. I am a tall woman (6'1"), and heavy (240 lbs). This brace works great. I don't see how a shorter brace would be effective, especially for tall people.This supports enough of the back to make a difference. Helps you stand up straight, too, which is great for those of us with poor posture that makes the back pain worse. The two different velcro fasteners make it possible to easily adjust the angle and tightness/looseness of the brace. I took this on vacation, wore it on the plane and for many hours in the rental car and walking. Made it possible for me to enjoy the vacation. When my boyfriend's back went out, he took mine and wore it... then I needed it. I immediately ordered a second one, no hesitation. We both agree, it is worth EVERY CENT! Negatives, it is an extra layer of fabric, which means it's warm. I love that, I'm always cold. It slips up on me throughout the day, so I just tug it down, or adjust it when I use the bathroom. No way around that with elastic and a pear shape, but that's minor, compared to the excellent support and pain relief it provides.

Comfortable and secure. Really helps when every movement causes discomfort.UPDATE 3 YEARS LATER. One minor flaw - this problem existed on my original purchase in 2017, and STILL existed when I bought a second one - three years later!One corner edge - it was on the same section of edge on both models - has some small ends of plastic threads that stick out through the edge binding, that are very very irritating on the skin. It is the lower right corner when the brace is wrapped around you. You don’t notice it unless you put it directly on your bare skin - but that’s often the most convenient way to wear it, beneath all your undergarments!The threads are too numerous, small and fine to be cut or sanded/worn off - but those little things really poke into your skin. The manufacturer has already sewn binding around all the edges to cover this, and it works absolutely fine around most of the edges, but on this small section, it is not effective in covering these irritating things. I found it amazing that this flaw had not been addressed when I got the second one 3 years later!I was able to solve it the first time by running a piece of gaffer’s tape along that edge, to cover those threads, so it wouldn’t irritate my skin. The second time I actually sewed additional cloth binding around that one edge to block the irritating pieces. Both solutions completely solved the issue, and otherwise the brace is very comfortable. It’s why I brought a second one, so I can have a spare when I’m cleaning the first. But I thought it was ironic that this product STILL has the exact same flaw, in the exact same location, 3 years later... they need to either trim the underlying threads better in that spot before sewing on the binding, or sew an extra layer of binding around that section!

This brace is well made and comfortable, however, it is huge! I like the height of it, ( I am 5'5" and weight 133.), since I am looking for some reduction of mobility after a back surgery. But I am unable to get this tight enough around my middle to provide the level of support it could provide if it fit well. Though there is some adjustability, I have it on the "tightest" Velcro setting and it is still not tight enough. And I am not a small girl. My belly is about 33 inches around. I love the brace, but since it doesn't seem to come in a smaller size, I'm going to have to find something else.
