Authentic Beauty: The Shaping of a Set-Apart Young Woman

Some graphic references to sexual situations. Very emotional perspective, seems overly-romanticized. Not for the level-headed girl that isn't guy crazy, and isn't knee-deep in sexual temptation.

My senior year of high school a classmate offered me this book. I had no idea how much that person was praying for my soul as I read this book. After one page I felt an instant connection with Leslie. She had been exactly where I was and was sharing how she got through it. After reading Leslie's description of Jesus, how He is a Prince come to save His Princess, God melted my heart and all I wanted to do was serve and please Him. I wanted to honor Jesus in how I talked and walked. I especially wanted to honor Him in how I dressed. I removed all 14 of my piercings, even earrings, until He showed me that it was no longer an idol in my life. I gave my life to Jesus in reading this book. I was just as bad a teenager as any, and Jesus saved me. Don't lose hope if you are praying for a teenager in your life. God is faithful and I am reminded of that when I see the cover of this book. He saved ME! And what an awful wretch I was.

I have read most , if not all of Leslie Ludy's books. I feel that this book tells more about her past than is necessary. For young ladies who have never experienced this atmosphere, this book just drags them through an experience that is disturbing. Don't get me wrong, I believe in leveling with and being straight forward in letting young people know what is going on in this world, but I believe that God wants us to fill our minds with those things that glorify God and build up and edify us as Christians. I believe her book could have been just as effective without going into as much detail as she did. If the audience knows that this book is detailing ungodly worldly sexual behavior, then you can make the choice for your self. Thank you, Teresa.

I was first recommended this book by a sweet friend and mentor in my Christian walk. The book offers a phenomenal message about true set-apart femininity which only stems from Christ. Not only that but it offers us women insight into manhood. I stand with the author, Leslie, and her husband that us women hold power in how the men in our lives will lead, especially a set-apart lifestyle as well. What's more, as we discover the Prince in Jesus, we discover the most authentic beauty that we can possess. Everything falls into place as we seek the Kingdom. That's my takeaway as well as a snapshot of this book.I recommend it to all women, especially high school and college-aged girls.

Authentic beauty really encouraged me in my relationship with my true prince, and it also even firmly grounded me into my decision to save EVERY SINGLE PIECE of myself for my future husband and warrior poet. I would recommend this book for girls aged 13+ because of mature content that young girls may not just be ready for. I am extremely delighted with Leslie's approach to set apartness and I am encouraged to be even more in love with my Lord.

I don't care how old you are if you are a women wanting to gain a greater realtionship with God then get this book and the Study Guide that gose with this book. I have read this book over and over since 2005 and it has changed my life. I even got the audio version on my Iphone so that when I need to heard this wisdom again i have it. I have bought this book for many different people and they all say the same thing that this book was a great tool in helping shape there live.

I thought this was a devotional. I skimmed the chapters and realized it was a book, but felt like it was a good book for a young woman to read and realize that it is important that she cherish herself and not give herself away until she gets married. God is the one who will be honored.

I bought this book for informational purposes to be able to be a good role model and encouragement to my middle school aged sister. I have forgotten how mean kids are at this age and this book has helped me and given me alot of tools I need to be an encouragement to her.

God in all his faithfulness used this book written humbly by Leslie Ludy to change me and my life - have given/lent this book to just under 20 girls I know, God has amazing plans! Every person who's read this who I know has been so moved to read the Scriptures more, to pray in earnest love for God, and to draw near to him in many circumstances. This book really captures God's heart towards purity. Could not recommend this book more.

Best book I have ever come across. This boom is truly life changing. I gave it to a friend not knowing what it would be like and she became obsessed with it. She gave it to me and now I'm obsessed. Every woman must read this book and devour every word that is written it is incredible!!!

Every girl needs to read this book!! Leslie write beautifully and captivates your attention as you learn more about our Indescribably Saviour and Prince :)

I bought this book hoping to give it to a young girl I know. After reading it, I will never give this book to any young person nor allow them to read it.I read it first myself - and was shocked to find graphic description of a young girl having sex with her boyfriend in front of his friends, guys undoing girls bras in the hallways, girls giving guys blow jobs at school and all kinds of things that need not be said or shared so elicitly to give a real, understanding, relevant message of the value of purity and love for God, respect for self and others, boundaries, etc.I suspect this book has occult, subversive purposes and do not recommend anyone buy it - exposing and awakening young women to things they never should hear about or encounter in their lives. It wasn't necessary or valuable to describe sexual things so elicitly to be relevant to younger people, and doing so is a form of sexual exposure, priming, and abuse. If that is what school is "really like" now, we should all be homeschooling. My copy is going in the garbage or the shredder. p.s. I grew up secular in a non-Christian family and went to public school. This book is borderline pornographic and unfortunately, the value of the message is lost.

I read the first edition years ago and loved it - but did nothing with it. This time I'm moving through it with purpose. I made it about halfway before I moved onto something else (I'm 29 and some of the items don't apply) - I would recommend it to ANY young woman so long as they read it correctly.Leslie Ludy believes very strongly in a set-apart young woman, she NEVER attempts to make you feel guilty but tries to get you to pray through each area of your life. If you are feeling guilt, pray about it... it's either Satan trying to make you miserable or God trying to get your attention - above all, don't settle for anything less than giving Jesus everything... it's worth it!
