Trespass Waterproof Rain Cover for Backpacks

very good, worth the money
I bought this as we are holidaying in Scotland this year. (I am sure it will rain!)This is going to be use on my camera backpack to save the camera if/when I get caught in the rain.I did test it by running a hose on it to ensure it would repel the rain prior to relying on it when the inevitable happens. The really good news is very good. The water balled off it easily and the material did not retain any water. For reference, my backpack dimensions are 450mm tall, 300mm wide and 200mm deep. The cover fits over it with ease and the drawstring ensures it stays on. It would fit a bigger bag with ease, but not too much bigger if you want it to wrap round. All in all, well worth the money.

weird design
any raincover i've ever used is designed like a shower cap - the edge is tight and shaped all the way round. However this rain cover is only shaped at one end and flat at the other (the drawstring end). The small size is supposed to fit 10-25L but I have to pull the drawstring to the max on my 25L backpack. Material seems decent but I'd imagine by the time I manage to pull enough drawstring in a shower my stuff would be wet.

Not brilliant quality
When we first tried to use it, the pull tog snapped off. One end of the drawstring was stitched down so you could only adjust it from one side, not both. My husband managed to fix the toggle and unpick and re-sew the cord to fix all of this. But to be honest it looks lighter weight than I expected and I am not convinced it will stay firmly on. I wish I had gone into a shop and looked around for better.

Room for improvement in design
Overall a good product - I wish I had had it for longer. It’s now sadly lost for ever as it slipped off my small backpack and I only realised when I reached my destination. The problem is that the sole mechanism for securing the rain cover is the pull string, but when your backpack is considerably smaller than 20 litre it can be a very loose fit even with the pull string tightened. It could be improved by adding some sort of clip as featured on some even cheaper alternatives. That problem aside, the product has excellent waterproof property, looks discrete (I wish more manufacturers offered black colour), and features a reflective logo. The carrying pouch is made of the same material and is also very nice.

Rather a poor fit but unused so far.
I still haven’t actually used this but I tried putting it on the bag and I wasn’t terribly thrilled with how well it fitted. I think I might find myself looking for something a bit less basic this winter if there is such a product out there.
