this really works!
We have an oriental rug about 10 by 12 feet on a hardwood floor. We tried other things to keep the rug from moving. I mean, we could position the rug where we wanted it and then it would move by the next day. I read the reviews on this rug pad and checked out the local hardware stores but this was a better deal and really, I could read the reviews and make up my mind. It took me about one week of this rug moving and ordered this rug pad and was extremely pleased. First, the speed in which it was delivered and then the packaging was also very appropriate - not alot of "stuff" to get to the product, if you know what I mean. So, we laid the rug pad down and then went about our business. The room where this rug is gets alot of foot traffic so it was really put to the test. Can't tell you how happy I am with this. Sure took care of my problem!! Once every month we maybe have to shift the rug about 2 inches, but that it all. This is the thing for the creeping rug syndrome, trust me!!

Quality Rug Pad
This is a quality product. We experienced no strange smells. The item was packaged rolled up and doubled over, but rolled out flat with no problems. The seller included usage instructions with the product. This has a rubberized grippy material on one side and a soft wooly material on the other. Instructions are to use the grippy side down on hard surfaces and the wooly side down on top of carpet. Worked great for us and has stayed in place during a week of 4 kids playing every game imaginable on the new carpet. It is not particularly thick or particularly soft, but it made a fairly thin area rug feel normal and not slide around on the floor. One note for future buyers - the literature included with the product says that if you know the exact dimensions of your carpet, you can contact the seller to have your pad cut to exact size. We ended up trimming ours (which was easy) as we didn't have the carpet yet when we ordered the pad. But this info will hopefully benefit some who know what exact size they need.

Big rugs, YES. Small rugs, NO.
I got this to hold down four rugs in my house - one in the entry, one in the kitchen, and two in the bathroom. The rug in the entryway is a big, round one - something like 4' in diameter- and is on carpet. The one in the kitchen is for a normal sized rug and is on tile. And the last two are in the batroom and are normal dormat sized rugs in front of the sinks, on carpet (yes, I know, carpet in the bathroom). The large rug by the entrance and the two in the bathroom have the rubber side facing up and the twill facing down so that it can grip the carpet. The entrance rug doesn't have a lot of traffic and it is big so it pretty much never moves. Previously with the rug by itself the cats and the small amount of traffic would push the rug around so for this use I'd call the rug pad a win. For the two in the bathoom they get a lot of traffic and not just teh traffic that walks over it. The traffic it gets is more of the type whee people walk up to the sink and jam/shuffle their feet to stop at the sink. In general these rugs do not hold their place and end up half crumpled under the sink. However with that said, prior to the mats being installed the rugs were completely crammed under the sink. Now they are only half crumpled. Half win. Maybe if I sewed the pads to the rug it would do better. The rug in the kitchen is in a similar situation as the bathroom rugs. This particular rug is situated in front of the fridge so it too receives that same jam/shuffle stop for people accessing the firdge. This pad is with the rubber side down and the felt side up. This rug probably does the worst and is no improvement. This is partially because it is in the highest traffic area of the entire house but also because it receives that slamming stop (which until there is enough pressure on the mat to grab both the floor and the mat, it will slide). Furthermore, because the mat is slightly thicker it makes it sit a little higher which makes it easier to kick by just walking by.In conclusion I think that this is a good product in the right circumstances. The right circumstances is when the mat can be palced under a rug that is big enough that you can more than one step on. This allows the rug to be "trapped" between the felt and rugger side and the floor and when you take another step on the rug the other foot is essentially "anchoring" the rug by the aformentioned friction. Anything smaller will have a hover effect until enough pressure is put on the rug. So if you have a big area rug or a hallway runner or something then this may be a very good choice for you; if you have something smaller like a doormat sized rug then I might consider something else to hold your rugs firm.

Wonderful Rug Pad
The rug pad is a great addition to the 8x10 area rug in our den. It makes it even more soft and plush feeling and there is no sliding of the rug. I do wish this company had asked what size my rug was and had cut the pad 1.5" smaller. I had to take it to a local carpet store to have that done. I was ignorant about such things but in ordering pads for runners in my hall from another company, they asked what size the rugs were and recommended a different size than what I'd ordered so that they could cut them 1.5" smaller than the rugs. They explained that the rug would wear unevenly if the pad was too much smaller than the rug and if the same size it would be hard to allow for small differences and to get the rug set properly to cover all edges of the pad.

Love this thing!
This rug pad is AWESOME. Ok - it's a bit pricey, however I put my rag rug on top of it and it's not moved since. I bought the 5x7 rug pad to put under a 5x7 rag rug and had to trim it...about 2-inches on two sides. I used my kitchen shears to cut it and they worked perfectly. By the end though my hand was pretty tired of cutting. I bought this pad because I just had my oak floors re-done and did not want that 'cheepie spongie' thing on my new floors. I've had experiences in the past where that sponge would disintegrate and stick to my floor and I had to scrape it off, which ruined the wood floor. Overall, I would highly recommend this rug pad.

Ultra Plush is an overstatement
The product was shipped and received quickly with no problems so I would say the customer service was very good. Compared to other rug pads I had seen online, I think this is very comparable to other "plush" rug pads. Walking on it, it does not feel ultra plush, or even plush at all. I don't notice a big difference between this and no pad at all under the rug. It seems like quite a high price for a thin piece of rubber with a thin mat of carpet fibers on top. It does keep the rug in place. Again, compared to any other rug pads I found, this seems to be as good or better.
