Excellent. This is really good
Excellent. This is really good, I have learned a lot. I especially liked the summation given at the end of the book of each LAW. This really helps to review and make sure you are on task for understanding and properly carrying out each law. Also there is an evaluation of teachers based on the laws here, which I thought is excellent to evaluate myself and if I were supervising other teachers, could use it to evaluate their teaching. In a world of sub par teachers, Gregory's own example and pursuit of excellence is incredibly inspiring and motivating to be the best teacher possible to produce students of integrity, knowledge, and minds bend on inquiry, examination, and the artful expression of truth.

excellent foundation
This was the most helpful primer for any amateur teacher. Start here and keep investing in your education to be a great teacher. I’m a homeschool dad and I can’t wait to see these principles help my daughter and son to learn more effectively with my limited experience. Thanks John!

Encouraging
Good mentoring and pointed out some common mistakes that I found useful. A little lofty which makes it hard to apply to reality (From a Homeschooler)

Watch out for redacted versions of this book on Amazon
Excellent book. WORD OF WARNING: After hearing high praise for this book, I had initially purchased it from a different publisher (sold on Amazon). That version had not only been redacted to remove Christian-based content, but the language throughout had actually been rewritten in such a way that the author appeared to have been writing from a distinctly secular worldview. The flow, content, and overall quality of writing in this restored version greatly surpasses that butchered version, not to mention the enlightening spiritual illustrations and applications that add another level of depth in establishing the pedagogical principles.

great content, needs formatting
The content of this book is stellar. It is well deserving of being typed out instead of being scanned in from an old typewriter version, but for the inexpensive price I am happy!

Classic work with poignant insights
I really enjoyed reading through this gem. Readers will find many nuggets of insight into both teaching and learning. The book is also short and to the point with a clear, logical flow both at the chapter level as well as the ordering of the book as a whole. Warmly recommended!

Easy to handle the book; I could read and re-read the contents

For a book written so many years ago, it hits the nail on the head for education today. (Minus the lack of discussion on technology part, of course.)

Go for it.

A must read book for any teacher, beginning or experienced. Bloody shame this book wasn't introduced to me wile I was in a Christian teacher's college. What a joke.

First published in 1884, 'The Seven Laws of Teaching' offers a clear, practical guide to the laws governing the art of teaching. Eductational fads come and go, but foundational principles never change. John Milton Gregory, succinctly offers the reader seven factors that contribute to successful teaching in any setting. For the busy classroom teacher, this short book shuns superfluous nonsence and gets to the core of what it takes to be a great teacher.
