Dietz#80 Blizzard Oil Burning Lantern (Red)

Kerosene lantern works very well and arrived in good order, quickly. I have burned two tanks through this lantern during various tasks on the farm and it's a solid addition to my farm kit. The light burns clear and clean and provides enough warmth to get your hands warm while doing evening chores. I will be adding another 1 or 2 to the farm equipment since we're in hurricane country and often lose power for several days every couple of seasons. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend or buy another. Easy to light and maintain.

Here's what I like, it's a nice big lantern that puts out a lot of light and heat. It looks like the timeless classic that it is and I'd be proud to have it as part of my collection... except the quality control is pretty terrible.The glass globe is uneven with large lumps on the bottom and top. It actually sits at an angle which means with use one side will eventually soot up... or crack from heat.One of the wire guards for the globe was also broken so if the lantern were to get knocked it wouldn't offer much protection which is a big safety issue if not just a longevity issue. I'm probably going to send it back and hope the next one isn't so flawed.

Got this after watching Technology Connections. I live in VT and we loose power often enough I have 2 glass lamps and this for sure is less fragile and could be comfortably used outside. Knocking 1 star off as the paint isn't all the great and it's pretty thin metal. It works as advertised and fulfils it's utility but it doesn't feel like an heirloom item.

This is not the old-fashioned American made Dietz lantern. This is a Chinese bad copy. Globe lift lever is weak, too weak for the spring in the chimney; I expect it will eventually develop a permanent bend as it bends some when pressing it. Frame was a little warped, I was able to twist it straight, but somehow, the lines just don't look right.

I like the classic design and performance of the #80 lantern, nice flame with plenty of light output. The globe lifter is typical Dietz and on the tight side but I have had worse. The wick adjustment is buttery smooth and the fit / finish is actually very nice.
