Cute story and beautiful illustrations
I fell in love with Chris Van Dusen’s illustrations in the Mercy Watson books and was so excited when I came across this book. I love the nice, big size and my kids and I love looking at all of the details in the gorgeous, colorful pictures. I am looking forward to reading it to my class in September also.

Fantastic
Adorable story about connecting with those who don't "look" like us and protecting habitats. Gorgeous pictures.

Overall adorable book
Really sweet story from one of our favorite authors. Just want to note that this book does include the line "What in the heck?" and also involves a child pretending to drown. Those two caveats aside, another great Chris Van Dusen book!

Another great Chris Van Dusen title to add to the shelf
I have a lot of children's books on my shelf, and all of the Chris Van Dusen titles are easily among the kids most favorite to pull off and read. His illustrations are always full of great character designs, and scenes that are full of beautiful details. Hattie & Hudson is no exception. I'm confident it will be added to our frequent reading list, and I won't mind at all as it's a fun tale of friendship. One thing worth noting is that the kind of lyrical, rhyming text that is generally present in his books is less evident in this story. I do not think it detracts from the story at all, but someone purchasing expecting that won't see it in this particular story. The kids also enjoy poring over the pages looking for any nods to previous books, and were happy to find a couple familiar faces included. I'd gladly recommend Hattie & Hudson, and suggest checking out his other books as well if you've not already done so.

SO stinkin' cute
Holy smokes! I bought this book for my 3rd grade classroom as part of a social emotional curriculum, and I am going to purchase a second one to have at home for my own kid. This story is heart warming, and beautifully written. It reminds us to have compassion, and reinforces the old adage, "don't judge a book by it's cover"

Instant Favorite
This book is an instant favorite. Our family loves this author and the illustrations. The story has some great lessons-it was a great book to bring as a mystery reader in elementary school.

Pretty cute, but wouldn’t buy again
It’s a pretty cute book. We love other books by this author, but this one isn’t our favorite. I wish we had checked it out at the library instead of spending the money, but it will get read from time to time I’m sure.

Beautiful book and would be perfect as a gift
I brought this book for my twin granddaughters who have just turned 7 years old. They are having a sleepover at mine tonight and i always read them a book or two before sleep time, and this was my newest book for them. The girls loved the story, they understood the moral of it, they loved the pictures, the characters and what this book also had is the fact that each page inspired the girls to talk about so much, asking questions whilst still grasping onto the story. This has to be one of my favourites now as it was such a pleasure to read to them.
