it's a filter....
does what it's suppose to do, filter.

Great filter, people having installation issues are doing it wrong.
Main points only as there are already many reviews. We had it for one year now:1) Mounting bracket and lag screws are not included, purchase separately2) Very solid swimming pool grade housing, much better than the transparent ones which fail and crack over time3) the filter itself doesn’t need a lot of tightening to fit with the big rubber o-ring. Keep it clean and lubricated with silicone grease and it will seal with no leaks4) You need to know how to seal the 1” plastic inlet and outlet threads properly. I used some layers of teflon tape with pipe dope. Absolutely no issues. DON’T over tighten and use the right amount of dope and tape vs blaming Dupont for easy cracking which just means you are not doing it right5) Fits any right sized filter elements paper or Polypropylene or carbon. Whichever you prefer.6) To avoid a water mess every time when changing the filter install a shutoff valve in front and after the filter7) Threads of this one are 1”. Use reduction elements to 3/4” or 1/2” as needed8) If you have no plumbing skills and experience better get a plumber. You don’t want to flood your house.9) Pressure relief valve / button works great and is sturdy.Verdict:We love the filter. It keeps our appliances and water softener free off sediment. We have city deep well water.Picture attached is after 12 months of usage and 35,000 gallons of water. Shown filter is the supplied paper filter.

Works pretty darn good
Works pretty darn good. Leak free - easily.Right, first off, I'm a pretty handy guy. While I don't like plumbing tasks, I regularly have to do them, and have an understanding of how a pressurized water system works. We are on well water, and over the last few years, the quality of our water has declined (thanks, in large part, to a lack of environmental protection standards being enforced and a chemical plant that set up shop down the road a few years back - No, I'm not a tinfoil hat wearing SOB who screams 'ban the EPA!' while watching rivers burn) - despite being a 350' deep well. So we decided to start filtering our water. I bought two of these and plumbed them in parallel between our pump and tank- theoretically this should double the time between filter changes (even though filter life (in gallons) is unchanged). Not rocket science, right? The picture shows my setup, plumbed to allow a bypass, or complete system shutdown. I also added a check valve after the filters (before the tank), so if I ever have to replace components, I can turn off the pump and service the whole shebang without dumping the whole tank's pressure. So how did I make it not leak? Well, frankly, despite the plethora of reviews about how leaky the filters are, I pre-fit PVC 1" SCH40 male threaded (to slip) pipe ends on it, and found that the threads were well fitted, and, I expected that with thread tape, there should be no reason to expect them to leak. That said, I'm a little paranoid, so I doubled down, and put o-rings (1 1/4" drain pipe flat o-rings) between the PVC fitting and the filter housing (in addition to the thread tape). I tightened (not to tight), and then cemented the whole arrangement together. Guess what. Not a drip.I also used some Stanley 8" L brackets to hang them from. the holes in the L bracket (bought at Lowes) lined up perfectly with those in the filter housing. Just had to notch out for the little red air release button (4 minutes with an angle grinder). The lack of an included mounting bracket is the only reason I gave 4 of 5 stars. The inconvenience of not including $2 worth of steel hangar is annoying - but typical.

NIce housing, but no mounting bracket included.
I bought this to filter large sediment particles. I wanted something with high water flow and filtered only large micron particles. I also ordered sharkbite fittings for the 1" NPT openings to hook into the pex line, and put aside for the weekend to complete my project. as I opened up the packaging, the directions suggested they highly recommend purchasing the optional mounting bracket. Needless to say, I was a bit disappointed as I was diligent to make sure I had everything for my project, so I tried to figure out a way to fabricate something that would work. The design of the filter really does not permit a mounting option other than using the bracket. I am fairly certain that the engineers are aware of this (notice I don't say DuPont Engineers - more on this later), so why they didn't include the bracket that was necessary to the installation is a mystery to me.There are no screws included, nor is there a description of the type of screw that works, so even if I could figure out an acceptable way to mount it, I couldn't attach it to the housing. By the way, for those who have figured out a way to mount it without the bracket, the housing takes 5/16x1 bolts.I went to the big orange box store to see if they carried the bracket and I could finish my project, but alas, no bracket. They did offer to order it for me, for almost 20 bucks, but it wouldn't arrive for a week or so. I did check out their in stock filters, and to my surprise, they carried a different brand of the SAME FILTER HOUSING. It was white, not blue, but had the exact same specifications and even had the same air purge button. I mean, exactly - like it came of the very same mold (wink wink). And, drumroll please - it even included the mounting bracket!!Total price for the "orange" unit was a few dollars more the DuPont housing, but given that it included the necessary bracket, it ended up being fifteen bucks less than the DuPont housing with the bracket. Needless to say, I bought the "orange" unit and had it installed in about an hour. I will send the other back to Amazon, because Amazon's return policy is awesome. To cut off a long story, you probably ought not to purchase this without the bracket. The smarter move? Look for a different/complete solution. Finally - a note to DuPont Marketing. There is noting that bugs a DIY'r more than starting a project without all of the parts necessary to finish job. Please consider charging a few bucks more and including the bracket, its the only way to do it right.
