great variety for playing uke and singing along
this is the second daily ukulele book i got, and to be honest, so far, i still use the earlier version more often, because it has more of the types of songs i need for the senior population i sing for, but this one has a lot of fun songs, and more of them are a bit more current, so i'm sure it will be more popular for certain crowds. in any case, the chords are clearly marked and if you need a little help with them, they are displayed at the top. great variety. lots of fun!

Good collection, well selected but binding may not last long
Like the original, this sequel is a large collection of popular and standard songs, annotated for ukulele accompaniment and vocals. The work that went into selection is massive, and the results are good. The earliest I noticed as I read through was from 1929, and the most recent from about 1999 I think. That's quite a span of coverage. The keys have been adjusted to promote relatively easy play on the ukulele without pushing the singer to extreme ranges. This in itself is masterful work. Fonts and music a large and clear to read. The book weighs more than two pounds (about a kilogram) and has a plastic comb binding so it will lay flat, which is always nice. However, the comb is a tad too tight for so many pages, and a well used book is probably going to come loose at some point in the future. Anyway, glad to have this available and I'm sure it will be useful. Reading full lyrics for some of these that I only remember vaguely from my childhood was sometimes hilarious.

Good variety of songs and book has a great layout
Another great collection of songs! Was pleasantly surprised at the list offered. There are some very easy songs with only 2-3 simple cords, while there's also some intermediate songs that offer a good challenge for beginners. All have a list of the song's cords in tab visuals at the top, then each cord letter is listed above the measures as you play to indicate where you transition. As a beginner, I will also draw my own tabs next to each letter cord throughout the song so it's an easy visual vs. having to memorize each fingering. This advances my ability to play a song right away - even the first time through, which motivates me to play more. It also speeds up my memorizing of certain cords. Words also included, so great for a sing-along. Overall, the book has a great layout. Since the melody notes are in the measures, so you could even use this for other instruments if desired. I bought this after owning the original Daily Ukulele book for a year, and it's a great companion. Either book by themselves are great, but if you want more, then get both!

Product, great. Delivery, not.
The book is in very good condition. However, paper-wrapped, it was delivered to my neighbor's mailbox. I saw the package when I drove by and rescued it before that day's rain. If I hadn't it would have been sodden.

If you can only get one, get first one.
I enjoy both of my daily ukes, but find I go to book one more. I'm not one for collections as I don't like lugging around a heavy book that I personally only want to play about 25% of.. but, it's good for clubs and I have rediscovered some music that I probably wouldn't have found my way back to, if it weren't for these books. I would have liked the digital version for my ipad but I previewed book 1 sample and found that you could not increase the size of the actual sheet music, increasing the font size only changed the title and extraneous text. The size of the lyrics and Chords were just way too small for me to read comfortably. Too bad, especially since my uke group uses both 1 and 2 and they are alot to lug. The book is laid out nicely, and plastic spiral lays good and flat for playing and has help up well despite heavy use. Chord diagrams at top of each song is nice, especially for some of the older songs that have many chord changes and use less well known chords. Good go-to books for a uke group with mixed ages, something for most everyone (but leans toward being better for older folks).

Great, but not as good as the first. . .
I heavily debated the rating to give this book. Much like the first book,Β The Daily Ukulele: 365 Songs for Better Living [DAILY UKULELE] [Paperback ], it is extremely well organized and contains a very large variety of songs. However, compared to the first book, I was a bit disappointed in the selection of songs in the Leap Year edition. A larger portion of these songs seems to be less suited for the ukulele, either not sounding terribly good when played on the ukulele or requiring difficult and/or rarely used chords. I enjoy playing about 1/2 of the songs in the original book (which is quite an accomplishment by the authors). In this version, it probably is more like 1/6 or 1/7 of the songs. It would seem that previous reviewers shared the opposite opinion. This may be because they have more experience with playing the ukelele or more familiarity with some of the songs. For someone who has been playing for less than a year, let me strongly suggest starting with the first version of this book (but not the Kindle version!). Afterwards, I would still recommend buying the Leap Year version. I am happy that I own it and will certainly purchase any further editions that the authors publish.

A Great Repertoire Builder
In the forward Liz and Jim Beloff said, "We once again sought out well-known songs that were relatively easy to play and sing." I think they succeeded magnificently. They also put different songs into this edition that were not in the previous DAILY UKULELE edition. You know how annoying it is to buy a "new" book and find much of it a repeat from the earlier edition? You don't have to worry here. There are some older songs as in" Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea" by T. Koehler & H. Arlen then others more recent in creation such as "Have You Ever Seen the Rain?" by J. Fogerty. Lots of good music to work through. I agree they are playable with not an overload of difficult chords but still you learn new ones here and there. Each presentation is clear and very readable with the chords nestled under each song title. A great way to play and sing your way through advancing you skills and musical repertoire. First year players may find this a bit of a challenge but you can usually hear what the songs should sound like on Uke sites on the internet.

OK, BUT JUST WELL PRINTED MUSIC AND CHORDS
A nicely published book. It is Hal Leonard after all and they have been in the educational music publishing business for a very long time. Yes, there are lots of songs in one book, but being American there are a lot which I have never heard of. There are plenty of the well known hit songs which have an international appeal despite this. However, this is just nicely printed staff music with lyrics and a bunch of chords. If you are looking towards developing chord melody you must look elsewhere. As there are a couple of songs which I may use as exercises in writing my own ukulele tablature for I have resisted giving it 3 stars and have given it 4.

Love this book
I love this book - there are so many great tunes in it of varying degrees of difficulty so you never get bored. This "leap year" edition has an added feature on A FEW songs - tabs that help you finger pick familiar riffs on famous tunes (e.g. Beatles Nowhere Man and And I Love Her). As a beginner, this is useful for me and it's a thrill to hear something roughly resembling the tune after a bit of practise. The tunes vary from really old traditional standards to 60s and 70s pop. There's not much really modern music, but that's OK by me. Some of the tunes I don't know, but I search them out on YouTube and so am learning some music that is new to me too, so that's a bonus. Highly recommended.

366 songs to enjoy!
Really super book with so many good songs and tunes to dip into every day of any year! You see the Ukulele chords required for each piece at the start, so you can familiarise yourself before you play through. I also have the original Daily Ukulele book too and they compliment each other. This is spiral-bound so it stays open easily. It is heavy, so make sure you have a music stand to hand.

I much prefer using a music reader these days π

Excellent.
Even better than the first edition, which I have. There are more popular songs from the 60s 70s, and fewer christmas, childrens, and less well known folk songs than the first edition. However I would recommend both books for a really good variety of songs.
