Great book to use for holiday math!
I found a math unit to go with this book for my third and fourth graders. This was a cute story using addition and subtraction with 5hree digit numbers.

a new classic
I can see this being a classic someday. Itโs so sweet and timeless. My 5 and 3 year old loved it! Weโve already recommended it to friends too!

Great informative fiction
I bought this book to read together with my kids on Christmas Eve. It was a cute story and very informative. I loved it. My 9 year old enjoyed figuring out the math of how many trees she had. It wasnโt exciting enough to maintain the attention of my 5 year old.

Perfect source of real life math problems
If you are a homeschooler, this book is a dream. Not only is it about an interesting topic but it is well written, with fun characters the reader really comes to like, and it is full of details to spark curiosity! Lots of real life math problems (how many seedlings is 83 dozen? how many feet tall is 81 inches?) so you could definintely go in that direction after reading it, but it doesn't feel dry or heavy... just interesting!

Great book for the season.
This is a lovely story for the Christmas season. It shows concern and generosity for others and the environment. I bought it for my 3 year Old grandson, and although it was over his head, he enjoyed sitting and listening to it!!

Lovely gift for early grade school children.
This is a gorgeous book. It is beautifully illustrated and the story is lovely. I especially liked the frequent reminders that the little boy and the trees were the same age. That was a sweet detail. The only concern I would mention is the recommended ages - 4 to 7 years/Preschool to 3rd grade. I think age 4 might be slightly young to sit still for a story of this length, but it probably depends on the child. I just thought parents should be aware that not all four-year-olds could sit long enough to finish this story in one sitting. It is 40 pages long, with most pages containing a full paragraph. However, I think for children of an appropriate age this could be a favorite for many years.

Heartwarming story, delightful illustrations
I'm a teacher, and I am incredibly picky about children's books. This one is amazing! The story is so sweet and the illustrations are gorgeous. I can't wait to share it with my students and my own children. I have a feeling it will become a favorite!
