La-Z-BoyFairmont Big & Tall Executive Bonded Leather Office Chair - Biscuit (Brown)

I bought this to replace a very similar well built chair that after 11 years was about to give up the ghost (the leather had started to wear and split, and the padding was becoming flat). After reading the reviews for this chair (and what seemed like hundreds of other similar chairs, yikes!), I must say I was a bit hesitant to spend this much money for something that might arrive damaged, missing pieces or worse. I checked the LA-Z-Boy site, etc, and it is hard to beat Amazon's prices especially with Prime shipping. The price on Amazon was the best that I found. For me, thankfully, none of the horror stories in other reviews regarding shipping damage, missing pieces, etc. occurred, and our wonderful Amazon driver brought the box right to my front door. You will need a second person or a dolly to shift the box. While I do think the box could be sturdier to protect the leather surfaces (the cardboard is pretty soft), overall the box exterior (some minor scrapes and dents) and interior seemed to hold up well and the items were internally packed reasonably well. All the parts arrived and none were damaged. Yay! This does seem to be a Chinese (listed country of origin) knock-off with La-Z-Boy medallions attached, but nonetheless it seems well built, is sturdy and very comfortable. Make sure you follow the directions (it's nice the singular tool required is included) and take your time. I was able to assemble it by myself (I used my bed as an assembly table), but a second person would have been helpful particularly for the step when it is necessary to lift the assembled seat and back on to the "star" wheel assembly. The height and tilt levers function very well as does the tension knob. The chair is very comfortable with the kind of seat and back padding that I think will hold up well over time. The woodwork and finish are also very attractive, and the bonded leather seems a good quality. Also, the dimensions provided are accurate and the color is a darkish brown. I am very pleased and, so far, would purchase it again.

OK, the chair is crazy comfortable. I am 6' and 215lbs, pretty solid guy, but weight is weight. I am getting older and my bones and joints hurt... alot...The chair is not genuine leather and you can feel the difference in this bonded leather. It will not age or wear in the same, this is a negative. However, the material is known at time of purchase and does not effect the star level (i.e. consesssion)The wood provides a rich appearance to the chair. This richness is provided via a stain and lacquer and if damaged, the wood shows its true colors. I know this as my chair arrived with damage to one leg. There was a deep gouge about the circumference of a penny and as deep as two pennies. This does not effect the review either, as I would assume the damage is a one off.Cosmetically, the cushion placement and material stitching are beautiful. Paired with the wood, the chair looks like a million bucks.Comfort... the most important part and purpose of the chair. Out of the box. The chair is extremely comfortable and feels good at all contact points. The headrest is, in my personal opinion, Maybe 2-3 inches to short. However, my head is supported well when leaning back and resting.The price is just pushing the buyer into a higher category of office chair. It is far superior to all other chairs at lower cost and feel that that price point was a great value.If you want to bump up your level of comfort and design. You can't go wrong with this chair.P.S. the bonded leather does scare me on longevity, by the warranty if you can... I DID!

Chair arrived and the right side arm chair screw (male) does not fit into the back chair receptacle (female). The assembly is not complicated and would have taken 20 minutes to complete but frustrating to pay over $500 dollars for a chair with defective plug. This is something that should be inspected before shipping. The company that manages customer service for LazyBoy was very good. The phone line was answered immediately and after a one minute discussion about trouble shooting the problem (we had already tried) they agreed to ship (will take 7 to 10 days) a new back with four additional screws and I do not have to return the backrest. Hopefully they will test before shipping out. The chair is very comfortable and has a rich look and feel. I will follow up with an update.The backrest did arrive but without the four screws that I asked to be included in case the female plug was not defective but rather the screws. In any event, the first armrest connected with the left side perfectly and I was looking forwarded to completing the right side connection. Unfortunately, the alignment would not work even as I worked to loosen the other side to gain additional flexibility. To my absolute astonishment the screw grabbed the inside foam causing it to wrap around the screw to the point where I could not unwind it. To amazon's credit, the return process seems to be easy and they pay for the return shipping. While I am delighted that others have described a very positive experience with this chair, I believe there are design flaws in the product bases on poorly calibrated engineering and/or assembly.The on;y other comment I will make is that you have to push yourself up to the back of the chair as the waterfall construction in the front will cause you to slip off the chair. For those of you with a low tolerance for expensive products not being perfect, i would advise a test ride at a brick and mortar shop. Based on my experience, a one is generous.

I spent a great deal of time researching and comparing office chairs on-line and in furniture stores. I compared the chairs to the one I have been using for 18 years. I did not like anything I found in the stores. I did not wish to spend $1000 to replace my chair which was purchased at Havertys. At my age I do not need it to last another 18 years. So; based on the looks, price and reviews of this Laz-y-boy purchase it and had a professional assemble it for me. Low and Behold, the "Back Height" of the chair is at least 6 inches shorter than advertised. I like to lean back occasionally and relax, even take a nap sometimes. The height does not allow a 6 foot tall person like myself to do so. In order to send it back, I must disassemble it, haul it upstairs and put it on the porch. To make matters worse, I see it today listed for $70 cheaper! Oh well, my daughter liked it so she owns it and I bought the replacement at Havertys for $1000 and I will live happily-ever-after! Buyer Beware!

Overall a great comfy chair. Would I buy again? Probably not. It came with a few scratches on the wood and the headrest is about 2-3 inches too low but hopefully it’ll contour to my body with time (I’m 6 ft tall). It soft and feels nice but firm enough to give several hours of support. The build quality seems great; real wood, leather seems decent (probably fake leather). The arm rests with padding is a great touch!
