As Close As A...Shave!
I've tried various electric shavers in the past, and without mentioning names, one brand had always been number one for thirty years until they started being greedy by making products cheaper, poorer quality and charging more for them! This Remington is fantastic! It's excellently (& justifiably) priced, gives a fast, close shave and the charge lasts a really long time. Although I've not using this shaver as wet with foam, I have shaved a wet face and it works great. It's easy to keep clean. My only niggle is the hair trimmer - it seems a little too soft when flipped out - it should be a little firmer so that sideburns can be trimmed/shaved easier. Otherwise, no faults.

Pretty good but would like improvement to sideburn trimmer.
The Remington R6 shaver is good and cuts fairly close. I do have to pass over few more times than my prior electric shaver which was also battery operated. It feels quite light so good for travel weight. Design has followed most manufacturers as in it does not operate at faster speed on direct mains connection. The sideburn trimmer is long which is good as some Chinese brands use short little stumps of trimmers which are barely useable. It does cut well although has a flex away spring as you press to cut, this maybe to reduce cutting by pressing to hard when cutting sideburns. Not sure but not seen this on anyother SB cutter, but it does work.I am happy it does the cut and was good price with branded name.

Good first impressions
A few years ago I switched from a rotary shaver to a foil shaver, mainly because it gave a closer shave. Recently, a small hole appeared in the foil, which I'm sure other foil users will know results in bloody patches on the chin. I was going to replace the foil but found that I had to buy the whole head, which was only a few pounds cheaper than replacing the shaver. Having previously been a rotary shaver user and never having experienced cuts from them, I decided it was time to change back.Looking at the options the Remington struck me as being the best value for a rotary shaver. I mean is a £200 shaver really worth the extra (law of diminishing returns I guess)? Anyway the shaver arrived the day after I ordered it and having not shaved for a couple of days I used it immediately. The instructions do state that you should charge fully before use, however I found that it was already fully charged. The shaver comes with a small brush and a bag. There's this stubble attachment that doesn't actually interest me much, this thing about macho stubble is ... well let's just say it doesn't appeal to me. I would like to have seen a cover for the shaver heads since I expect some detritus to come out into the bag.So I used it straight away out of the box, and was pleasantly surprised. The shave was closer than I remembered from my last rotary shaver, and a lot quicker than I'd been experiencing with the foil shaver. I do mean a lot quicker. I tend to shave every other day now (no longer visiting customers etc.), and with the Remington I'm done in about a minute, whereas the old foil shaver would take about 5 minutes. I will say though, that my skin does feel more sore with this shaver than with the foil, so I do find a dose of after shave has now become necessary rather than cosmetic. I'd say the discomfort is closer to like using a wet razor (which I'd been doing before buying this item).Speaking of which, I note that this shaver is wet or dry, and can be used with shaving gel or foam. I'm not sure I want to do that since I can imagine that cleaning it afterwards would be a bit of a bind. All that gooey stuff with shaved hair bits stuck in it ... well I think I'll stick with a dry shave. My understanding is that the slight soreness after shaving is reduced by using it wet, but ...Battery life - well I've had this shaver for over two weeks, shaving every other day, and it's still showing 3 bars (goes down to 1 bar meaning it's time to recharge or risk it stopping mid shave). My old foil shaver (sounds like brown) would need recharging after 2 shaves, 3 if I was lucky. So from that point of view I'm ecstatic about this Remington shaver. Of course I can't say how long the battery will last over the long term, but so far I'm impressed. So, that's first impressions, and having not yet even recharged the shaver once I can't make any comments regarding longevity. However based on my experience so far I'm very happy with it.Update: Now over 2 months since I bought this razor, and I've recharged it once so far (soon as it hit one bar). It's now showing two bars so I expect I'll need to recharge again sometime in the near future. Happy with that though.I've come to the conclusion that the speed advantage over the old foil razor is due to the jawline shaving. Because of the moving heads, I'm no longer having to go over the contours of my chin over and over to catch all the growth.A small irritation is that for some reason the shaver seems to pull a little when I'm shaving the 'moustache' area, i.e. over the upper lip. I'm guessing it's because the blades aren't spinning as fast (being battery powered) as they did on the old mains razors I used to use. I have found that this 'pull' is reduced by shaving laterally rather than simply against the direction of the hairs, and the resulting shave is still good. So, several weeks later and no reason to change my five star rating. Very pleased I bought this one.

Price meets quality
I was looking for a brand-new electric shaver, one step above my worn out Remington R3. Not wishing to burden myself with an overpriced shaver that doesn’t perform, I’ve been looking at and reading reviews of the Remington R6, for a good few weeks, as the price reduction, together with the reviews, was very appealing to me.I decided on this Black Friday price of £40 as I thought this would never be seen again considering the original price appears to be about £119.This shaver arrived the day after I ordered, on Amazon Prime. The packaging is not that dissimilar to the Remington F3, except It’s a little bit of a tighter packaging and the machine is basically accessed from the top part of the internal brown packaging box.Okay, it was time for me to put this to the test. After managing to scoop this new shaver out of the box, the first thing I noticed was the very accommodating feel of this new electric shaver. It is contoured just perfect to fit a large sized hand like mine and includes a nice rubber at the front, just below the on off button to prevent the slipping out of hands during use. After switching it on, the first thing I noticed is the machine is a lot more quiet than the R3, which is a welcoming bonus, as I don’t want to wake up the neighbours at 5 o’clock in the morning. The shaving was very quick, just under about two minutes for my skin type: short dark and curly Afro. I do feel the shaver as cut into my skin somewhat, but I think that’s down to my skin type and texture as opposed to the machine itself. I have to press a bit harder to get a good shave from any shavers I use.The one downside is the too floppy, springy trimmer, seated at the back. Seems a bit flimsy and pushes backwards when using. I’d be surprised if this bit last for much longer. Quite disappointed really, as this is one of the reasons for upgrading as I was using another shaver together with the F3!Nonetheless, I would fully recommend this for the price, certainly, notwithstanding the Black Friday price, you may not get it again after a couple of days. Also I’ve seen it for about £50-£60 on Amazon; it’s worth the price, methinks.
