BEYOND GUARDIAN AIR PURIFIER

This is the real deal and yes it’s a tad challenging to maintain at first
I had the fortune to meet and work with various Aerus leaders and technologists through my work. Before this, all I knew was that my mom loved her 40 + year old Electrolux vacuum (Electrolux is now Aerus). After speaking with NASA and getting a better understanding of this proprietary ActivePure technology that’s a key differentiator, I asked Aerus why they didn’t market this product several different ways and participate in more competitive comparisons. They didn’t see it as a high priority because the product speaks for itself- it’s that good. I agree with the other reviews that it’s a bit tricky to maintain at first but you get used to it. We’ve had our Aerus Beyond Air Purifier for about 8 years and I bought one for my parents 7 years ago. I change out the filter every year and the bulb w honeycomb casing every two years. Yes, I have to watch the YouTube video every single time to refresh my memory how to do it; and I am not handy AT ALL, just good at reading/listening to instructions. You don’t need to have an Aerus service rep do it, but you certainly can do so (I would definitely advise this for elderly folks, as the tiny screws can be tricky to deal with while using an extra long Phillips screw driver). Elephant in the room: this purifier is not sleek or Feng Shui IMO. Our home is contemporary/modern (think steel and glass) so this purifier doesn’t look too out of place. In our household, air quality trumps aesthetics.

Refused to give me a seria number
I called Aerus and they said there is no warranty on these machines

Expensive to maintain. Performance deteriorating after 3 years. Difficult to replace UV bulb
I have had this and the smaller one for about 3.5 years. It definitely does work. In the last few months though I've noticed it is not doing near as well as it used to, especially as far as removing odors (cooking). Since I bought them, the price of replacement filters has increased exponentially. This last filter has not lasted anywhere near a year so I've been cleaning and vacuuming it to make it last longer. I live in a small 1 bdr apartment and the filter lasted much longer in a larger mobile home. This apartment is not dirty/dusty. No reason for the decreased performance. I have extreme multiple chemical sensitivity and put out almost $3000 for this (direct from their site). It cost me $50 to get a new UV bulb and I cannot get into the machine to do it. You literally have to take the machine apart and I am not physically able to do that! Yes, it works better than other things I've tried but I am now looking for something that isn't going to cost me nearly $300/year to maintain (talking about both machines). Although 2 years ago I would have highly recommended this, I no longer feel I can.

Hard to maintain
Machine works great but I found out this is a discontinued model. The new model is a better design much easier to maintain.

It’s approved by NASA
The best air purifier you can get I love it

Not really convinced
This air purifier was really expensive compared to others I have bought. I thought since it said it was approved by NASA it would be very efficient. I’ve been running it since the day I got it and I’m not really convinced it’s worth what I paid for it. Disappointed
