Dover The Burgess Bird Book for Children

We read this at bedtime, along with the Book of The Seashore, The Book of Flowers and The Book of Animals. Thornton Burgess is a national treasure!

The pictures on the cover and back of the book are absolutely gorgeous. Unfortunately, the illustrations inside are a very grainy black and white. Not pleased.

Bought the print.pictures were terribly faded out.all the captions were full of print errors.I m deeply disappointed for buying this...

Natural science based, the author tells the story of these delightful characters, while at the same time teaching about the natural environment, mating habits, distinguishing features, habitats, migration habits, etc. The children don't even realize they're learning, and the characters pull you into their stories. A living book, if there ever was one.
