The Rural Diaries: Love, Livestock, and Big Life Lessons Down on Mischief Farm

I absolutely loved this book. I think Hilarie is an amazing, strong, down to earth, kind, hard working, smart, and genuine person/wife/mother/friend. Just reading her book made me feel connected. I loved Hilarie on 'One Tree Hill,' Lifetime movies, and gained a lot of respect for her in the past few years through her interviews/talks. Her husband Jeffrey seems so great also. I have to admit I only know him from watching the 'Walking Dead.' In fact, when I found out awhile ago they were married, I was totally surprised. How could sweet Hilarie from 'One Tree Hill be married to the evil Negan from the 'Walking Dead'?!?!? haha.I love, love their show 'In with the Morgans,' and just enjoy watching them both together!!!!!! It's such a fun show to watch, as they chat with their friends from show business, community, and others. I hope they do a lot more episodes....definitely a great show to watch on AMC.Thanks for writing this book, Hilarie. I enjoyed reading it. I laughed, cried, and related to so many parts in the book. I hope Samuel's Sweet Shop is doing OK during this pandemic.

A great novel! If you loved “Payton” from One Tree Hill you’ll love this book! A fun little love story of the real life Hillary and Jeffery, definitely an easy read!

This book is great, I loved how open and honest Hilarie was with everything and the love and compassion that is shown throughout the book. I laughed and cried had all the feels. This book is a must read.

I loved this book way more than I thought I would! Being a Hilaire Burton fan from her days on One Tree Hill and being obsessed with Jeffrey Dean Morgan from both Greys Anatomy and Walking Dead I thought this book would be an interesting read! I don’t typically care for books written by celebrities but this book is sooo much more than that! It’s such an intimate memoir. It is quick paced and I would constantly find myself just smiling randomly while reading it. It is raw, yet carefree and incredibly honest. The writing is great and real! Never once was I bored and truly had trouble putting it down each night! I forgot I was reading about celebrities because they don’t carry themselves as typical celebrities! The things they are doing and have done for their community go above and beyond! Their love for their friends and family is beyond words! I am inspired by their story and was sad to finish the book!Side note: I need a trip to Rhinebeck, NY in my future! It sounds so magical! And I definitely want to try the sweet shop!

Rarely do we get to see behind the curtain of a star’s life. So much is invested in seeming to have the picture-perfect life. This book, rather, is real, heart-breaking, laughter-bringing and truly inspires me to get more involved with those around me in my own part of the world.Oh, and I would totally love to sit and have tea or wine with the author and be friends. What a strong and beautiful soul!

Since I loved Grimoire Girl so much, I obviously had to check out Rural Diaries. This was way more of a memoir learning about Hilarie and Jeffrey's life and homesteading experiences. I also love that we learned about the candy shop owned by them and Paul and Julie Rudd. I knew they had it but I didn't know anything about why they had it or how.There was a very emotional section about how hard it was for Hilarie and Jeffrey to have their daughter George. It was heartbreaking and a sentiment I could share a little with when it came to having my boys.I love how raw and real she is. I love how open she decided to be with all of that, the struggles with Jeffrey, her apparently awful time on One Tree Hill, etc.I will reiterate what I said when I read her first book. I have never read anything by a celebrity that I could actually connect with. I love her personality, her writing flows so well, and her stories are really interesting. I also loved the little recipes and "journal" type entries she had throughout!

What an incredible story! I have always enjoyed Hilary Burton as an actress. She brings beauty and life to her role. This book however showed a side of her not seen on the screen. She is even more lovable and fun loving! Her struggles are the same as any of us and yet she and her family have not only pushed through them but have strived to help others in incredible ways!

This was just a really lovely read and memoir. You don’t have to be familiar with one tree hill to enjoy.

The Rural Diaries me deu a chance de conhecer um pouco mais da Hilarie, não somente como atriz, mas também como autora, fazendeira, mãe, esposa e como pessoa. Sem dúvidas foi uma das melhores experiências que eu já tive lendo um livro. Eu ri. Eu chorei. Eu aprendi. Faltam apenas algumas páginas para eu acabar e não estou sabendo lidar com isso. Foi uma grande jornada que marcou a minha vida.

Absolutely loved it! One of the most honest books I have ever read. I enjoyed every sentence. So much emotion and care put into 260 pages. Once I started, I couldn’t put it down. Thank you for sharing this beautiful story.
