Simple. It works.
Easy to install, program (sometimes manually), and operate for every device I tried. My next step is integrating it with Home Assistant, which will hopefully be easy as well!

Priceless
so I use this with Home Assistant in my bedroom and I have to say it is fantastic. I have a somewhat complicated “smart“ TV and receiver set up - if you’ve ever had the displeasure of working with a smart TV you know that they don’t like it if you use a secondary input source and it requires using another remote to get it to the right input device. Well, this little baby solves that problem, so now with one action my TV turns on it changes to the right source, my receiver turns on and select the proper source, the TV backlights go on, etc. It’s really a terrific device. Integrates flawlessly with Home assistant and the Nvidia shield.

Garbage. WILL NOT CONNECT NO MATTER WHAT.
Instructions are worthless. Tried upwards of 100 times to get this to connect. It will connect to my phone, my phone and it (supposedly) connect to same 2.4G network, but the APP will NEVER find the required device AP regardless of configuration of devices, and I've tried what I'm declaring to be ALL OF THEM. I've decided to only chance to recoup any value from this flaming piece of trash is to grind it into powder to be used as a filler/tint/pigment for epoxy resin. That's its only possible use. How anyone was able to connect this crapfest is beyond my comprehension. I'm so looking forward to smashing the holy hell out of this frustration generator. Don't waste your money. Total trash.

Bought it just for my TV but works well with my other appliances with remote receiver
I actually bought it just for my TV but works well with my other appliances with remote receiver. The interface on the app is not the fastest but it's not super slow either.I am using it with my Alexa, but one annoying this is that I would have to specifically say "Turn on (button)." E.g. turn on pause, which is a little awkward to say.

It can work as a remote using Alexa.
While I was surprised that it doesn't list Spectrum for a set-top-box, I was able to train it to recognize the remote keys I wanted. My main concern was allowing my father to say a channel number rather than try to enter it on the keypad on the remote because he can't see well. It does the job. He can say, "Alexa, change the channel to 23 on Spectrum," and it dutifully enters a 2 and a 3 to the set-top box. If he keeps using Spectrum, he can just say, "Alexa, change the channel to 27." If he uses a different device, such as saying "Alexa, turn on the sound bar," he then has to mention Spectrum again the next time he wants to change a channel. It works for our purposes. What Spectrum does not provide, this little device does.

Just meh
So the RM4 does work to duplicate a remote to control something out of range of the remote. But the radio power is extremely low, I'm using it to control an LG portable AC unit in our basement thinking I could keep the RM4 upstairs. Nope. It wouldn't even work 8 feet away, I have to put the RM4 almost next to the AC unit to get it work.It also doesn't even come with a power supply, radio devices are extremely sensitive to power input so this really should have come with an appropriate power supply. I paid $25 but given the limitations it really should be in $10 range. If I wasn't so desperate for something to control our portable AC I would have just returned it.
