Good price, I like that a good amount of reflective tape was included. Accuracy verified with 2 methods; a calibrated signal generator (HP 3325B) and a tachometer calibrator (Sargent 1100A). The first method uses an LED from the output of the signal generator, set at specific frequencies, ex. 4.1667Hz should show 250rpm on the tach. I found this method to be slightly difficult, as the tach wouldn't always detect the LED (I used white and red LEDs). The second method uses a Sargent tachometer calibrator and a 20:1 ratio gear box (with a wheel that uses the reflective tape). That method worked better, as I was able to focus the tach's laser on the tape. I set the calibrator to 6000rpm and 20,000rpm. Both were dead on. So, the tach works well, you can trust the readout IF you can get it to display a constant, identical reading. I'd hold it on the target for 20-30 seconds and average the readings. 4 stars for the accuracy and price.
