Girl Defined: God's Radical Design for Beauty, Femininity, and Identity

A few of my friends told me about a blog they follow that posts on topics people don't like to talk about in the Christian community. Without much more information than that, I decided to check them out. (It was during finals so I had to do something to avoid studying!) I spent at least a few hours going through the archives of this blog called Girl Defined. After those few hours, I was hooked. The things this one website had taught me about myself and God's plan for my womanhood were new and radical in sight of the culture we live in. I saw on the website that they were coming out with a book called Girl Defined and without much more knowledge about the book, pre-ordered it. When it came, I was not disappointed. The book challenged the way I see beauty in myself and others along with how God specifically designed men and women. No longer am I confused about whether to pursue a guy I have an interest in or if I measure up to God's standard of beauty. This book is a great collection of all of the answers to the questions I had about God's plan for my femininity. If you are confused in the slightest about what God's plans are for you and your womanhood (a very easy thing when culture sends so many different messeges), I strongly advise you read this book. Since I and the friends who introduced me to the blog read and enjoyed this book so much, we have started a study on it with the rest of our friend group because we want them to experience the same change in their views that we did. (That's how good this book is!) We have also started an intentional sisterhood like the last chapter of the book encourages. We are looking forward to becoming even closer to the Lord and to each other through this book and our sisterhood!

One of the best books I’ve ever read! I bought some as gifts for friends. I’ve been a feminist most of my life and I recently have had to be a full time stay at home mom. By far the hardest job I have ever done in my life. I’m not really sure how I worked full time and maintained my house hold before because I don’t have a lot of free time on my hands. Gods design for me is beautiful and I’m proud to be where I am. I know that it’s exactly where I’m supposed to be. I am grateful for the Biblical application and the reality of this world too. It’s the big picture, showing how the little pictures make the big picture work(not sure if that even makes sense). I want to recommend this book to every woman especially those who have daughters. I have 2 and I’m trying to be a good role model. I want them to know that God has a plan for them, and that they are loved. I am so thankful for the value and importance that this book places on being nice to other women. We are not vey loving towards one another. If only we could remember that Jesus is the perfect example of how to live, and the answer! Thank you for sharing this book with me! It really encouraged me to get in the Word daily too. As soon as I finished I wanted to start over again!

"What is the purpose of being a girl?"I don't know about you, but I have struggled with the answer to this simple question. I always knew God had created me to be a girl for a reason, but the deeper purpose of womanhood? "Um, to get married and have kids and keep house, I guess" would have been my answer. Digging deeper into the biblical purpose of being a girl was daunting at best.Been there yourself? Still there? Then read this book. Never really questioned the purpose of being a girl? Then read this book.Our culture has lambasted us with lie after lie of its answer to the question "What is the purpose of being girl?" From the first page until the last, Girl Defined offers a biblical, thought-provoking perspective of womanhood. Kristen and Bethany come alongside sharing personal stories of their search for Truth in a fun and straightforward way. I, personally, have been so blessed, challenged, and encouraged by this book and the real-life example of its authors. Definitely a MUST READ!!! :)

The authors have fearlessly and boldly written truths that have and will continue to upset many. And as the title suggests: its the radical way God sees femininity, women.it is a must for all who want to follow the Lord truly, value His word and His standard and confront the attempt of society to destroy Gods design in womanhood.Good job!

I've been going through quite a bit of personal struggle lately with a major health problem delaying my time at college, family issues, issues with friendships, etc. and in general just struggling to trust God's plan for my life, well this book has been perfect for helping me deal with this season in life. I appreciate that it is an easy read without being condescending. I have gained so much from each and every chapter in this book, this book is definitely written by young women for young women with issues that most modern girls have or will struggle with at some point. This book has re-awakened my faith and I can proudly say that I am now confident to leave my life in the hands of God. This is a must read for any girl trying to get a clearer picture of what God wants from her and for her.

Such a wonderful novel for women of all ages to read and enjoy. This book pushes the boundaries that society has set as to what being a girl means. Clark and Baird "redefine" womanhood by pointing us to the ways God defines womanhood. Whether you're single, married, have children, or not-- there is something in this book for everyone. I was encouraged by the contents of this book-- in each chapter my heart would hear from God and show me just what I needed. This book is truly life-changing! The three pillars of womanhood that are presented in this book have reshaped the way I think about being a woman. Not who I am, but understanding my purpose and how to live my life to the fullest in each stage of life that I am in. Such an inspiration and one of my favorites! I definitely recommend!

I’m a young woman in a big city and honestly, I really needed some guidance and this book gave it to me. I feel like I have a clearer understanding on how to live my life in a way to be closer to Christ. Thank you to the Girl Defined ministries!

I'm reading this book and it is absolutely wonderful! Every girl MUST read it. Kristen and Bethany again doing an excellent work! We should be girls defined by God, not by the culture. Otherwise, we will not have happiness, because only God can give us full happiness.

This is a wonderful book helpful for any age. I think I am probably a little older than their intended target age group but nonetheless it really opened my eyes to things that God has planned for women. I would highly recommend if you want to have a fresh perspective on women in God's eyes.

So I really enjoy Girl Defineds videos but this book sadly was not my cup of tea .There were some good bits like the 3 pillars of God decided femininity, but it became repative and boring. I think this book was way too long .Overall not a book I can see myself reading again

This is a good Christian book for teenage girls. I heard about the book through the Girl Defined YouTube channel. The book helps with all the different areas that I am sure most teenage girls at some time would find challenging. It is an enjoyable and easy read. At the end of each chapter, there is a study guide with questions, space to write answers, relevant Bible verses and prayer suggestions. There is an 8 week (1 hour a week) Bible study on the Girl Defined YouTube channel that links directly into the chapters in the book. I think it more helpful to read the book before watching the videos.
