Nice follow up book
I liked the first book in this series and the main character, an imp, who has a different set of morals to vanilla humans. So I got this one.She is asked to help her 'brother' retrieve an object in order for him to pass it on, helping him get out of trouble with a mighty figure. This unspecified object turns out to be, yes, satans sword, but retrieving it is not easy; it comes at a cost.

Still good
The story is still good although, in my opinion, it is getting a little twisted as though the Sam, or the author, is not sure whether she good or evil or just plain immoral. I will get the next one only to answer that question.

No rest for the wicked
If it's not one thing its ten others. Sam has to many problems and not enough of her to go around. I'm really enjoying Sam and her increasing band of misfits. I wonder what trouble she can find next?

One Hel(l) of a book
Book #2 confirms it. I have just found a new favourite series.Sam is a baby demon, a mere 1000 years old; bound (in some flawed way) by an old, powerful angel/demon slayer. She is not allowed to kill humans, or attract attention in the human realm, and certainly NOT accept breeding petitions powerful demons that would up her status in Hel. So what is an imp to do in Las Vegas alongside her most favoured human boyfriend? Certainly not turn humans into bloody, abstract art, or play Angry Birds for a human's soul, or deliver dog excrement at heaven's door. Unless she wants to end up in an angelic prison cell for eternity, that is. Then again, demons want a piece of her too, since she has managed to piss off several powerful entities high up in the hierarchy. Poor Sam is in quite a pickle. After all, sin is so very tempting to an imp. And then there is a certain powerful 'feather barrette' that all demons want, but will bring Sam a sh..load of trouble...This book is such a fun read. I can't help but cheer her on as she shakes Gregory's angelic foundations. What started off as curiosity of her in-demonlike behaviour the first time they met is turning deliciously tempting for the both of them. (Although a certain exalted being is still in denial about that;-)) Can't wait to see her stir up more trouble in Aaru, Earth and Hel. And bondage sex would be fun too;-) Hey, don't blame me, blame Wyatt;-)

If you like an Anti-hero as much as I do, try this series
A great series. Buy this one, then buy the rest. If you enjoy perversity (not perversion, that's another thing entirely, and that's present too), you'll love the anti-hero. This gets a solid 5 stars. It's not that it's amazing, award-winning writing. It's not, its solid urban fantasy/romance. But the author had a demon main character, and she made the demon demonic. And still likeable. That is freakin' AWESOME. I've been through the first 5 books now, and it's been a consistent 4 star story that gets 5 for the main character. As the leading (most helpful) reviewer (G. Gavin) wrote:"This grew on me after I finished it and gave it more thought. I am keeping my original rating because I still have problems with the primary character who is an unrepentant slum lord, eats her own finger, tortures and kills people for pleasure and then dismembers and arranges their body parts "artistically", enjoys sex rough enough to leave her arm hanging by a tendon, admires John Wayne Gacy and Ted Bundy, etc. But, that said, there are some interesting parts to it and if the author had made the main character more likable, this would have been a very good series."My position: If the author had made the character more likeable, she wouldn't have been interesting in the first place. I love her because of all those examples.

Can't wait for more Gregory! (Minor Spoilers)
4-4.5 StarsLoved this second book of the series overall, from the very first page Sam's twisted antics start and it continues from there, and I mean this in the best way possible. My only complaint is not enough Gregory and too much Wyatt. I like Wyatt but I've never been convinced by his relationship with Sam (by author design) so it is a bit tedious. But I love watching Sam realize where her relationship with Gregory is obviously heading, and there was one particular scene between them that was very intense, so I can't wait for him and Sam to finally admit what's going on between them. Dar was fun getting to know a little more, and after this book I'm really anticipating seeing Sam going to Hel and Aaru in the future, and interacting with other demons and Angels. The elves were brought up more in this book and that has me intrigued, too. The book still maintains the irreverent and brazen fun we expect from Sam and I'm off to read the next one now.

twisted
Titled my review twisted because some readers may have qualms about the main characters views....but she's a demon, so think outside of the box. It is all pretty much inuendo as opposed to graphic. You may find some of the main characters sexual mores outside your comfort zone, so be forewarned. I definitely liked this book more than the first, it was difficult to engage in the opening chapters of the first book. This book took right off, the characters are more snarky and had some LOL moments, the story develops smoothly, can't wait to see the development of Sam's(demon Imp) powers as the Iblis(got to read the book you know)and the growing relationship with her "adversary" angel Gregory. There is twisted justice from Sam, with more human feelings than demon at times, all the character relationships are expanding, a demon needs an OCD neat freak werewolf BFF. I haven't gotten frustrated with wishy washy female agnst, found in many PR books, with the main characters relationships with her human and angel boyfriends. I will be reading future books as I'm that interested in how the story turns out, just purchased book 3. Definitely reccommend this author.

A series with a fresh twist on the paranormal
Samantha Martin (Sam) lived undetected in the human world for forty years, until she was asked to kill a rogue angel. Since then, several rumours have spread about her, which to Sam’s innocent surprise, seem to have raised her profile among the paranormal societies. In this book, Sam’s foster brother Dar asks her to pick up a demon artefact from a group of vampires, leading to more ups and downs and quandaries for Sam. In a brilliantly comic scenario, Sam tries to make money out of squatters at her new canal side property; I loved this part. These books are filled with humour as Sam leaves a trail of death and destruction in her path. Her demon powers and lust for blood are counteracted by her passion, loyalty and crazy nature. At one point I had tears of laughter rolling down my face and I chuckled through several other incidents while reading this. I like this series, the author has put a fresh twist on paranormal beings and it works well for me. I can’t wait to see what adventures there are in book three.

Wanted to give this five stars but Sam just went too far
This book, like the first one, is difficult to 'get' unless you take the demonic antics of Sam the protagonist with a pinch of salt. There is a good deal of comedy thrown in with the horror and action which helps but there are still some troubling moments. In this second book Sam is becoming more human mostly due to her relationship with Wyatt but also due to Gregory's influence. Gregory doesn't feature as heavily in this one by the way but the Sam-Wyatt dynamic is really great. The plot moves along nicely and there are good characters and surprises along the way including an interesting take of vampires.I really love the fresh twist in urban fantasy this book brings and the way the reader is challenged by a less than morally pure main character a la Dexter the serial killer. However there was a point around the middle of the book where Sam Owns a man then kills a bunch of people and uses their body parts to make art and only doesn't kill another totally unrelated man because he beats her at a game of Angry Birds. While I realise this was tongue in cheek, it was a bit much for me and ruined my experience of the book. Before this I loved Sam's immoral antics but in this I felt she crossed a line and I found I could not carry on rooting for her after such twisted actions. It was a disturbing point in the book especially because before that she had been working on being less 'evil' so well. Also it didn't make sense that Wyatt wouldn't question what she had done. She Owns a man because he looks like Wyatt and she and Wyatt don't even have a fight about it. Very unbelievable.Overall this book is enjoyable if you like your main character wicked but this isn't straight up comedy or satire and I think sometimes Sam's actions are too much to sympathise with. Also I just have to complain about the front covers of these books. What's going on with the model shown? Sam CLEARLY states several times in the books that she is a forty something year old of average looks, yet the woman on the cover is a twenty something stunner? Ugh.

The begining of the rest of the story
If you've read the first book in the series - A Demon Bound you have been introduced to all of the main characters. Now Debra Dunbar starts to develop the story for the next 4 books. The story is told from the point of view of a sort of demon called an imp. The major problem in this imps life is that an angel is starting to cut into her fun with restrictions like - no killing humans. To be honest it's only something that the imp fantasizes about whenever a human gets in her way, but still how unfair is that. And then there's family. Her foster brother is asking her to run an errand on his behalf and its only after we see the lengths that the vampires will go to to get rid of her that we see how undesirable a demon can be.I love the characters in this book and couldn't put it down - stayed up until 4am to finish it.

Imp series is a 100% must read!!
Second in the Imp seriesOh wow!! Loving this series so much! reminds me of another Imp, another series and I loved the little character and I love Samantha Just as much.Sams getting herself in deep doodoo and her human, Wyatt is tagging along for the ride, with Gregory popping into her life like popping candy on the hob lol.If you love a good fantasy with all your favs: demons, angels, elves, vampires etc you’ll love these, but even more they will make you laugh, cry and all the in between.

Gets a bit bogged down
I loved the first book but I’m not enjoying this follow up as much. There are some very in depth descriptions of journeys and the roads/routes taken to get there and it’s completely unnecessary IMO. If I were local to the are perhaps I’d appreciate the detail but as I’m not, I don’t!Sam is still unapologetically demonic but I feel like I missed some parts - like when did Michelle find out and be ok with her nature? The 6 legged cat was a ghost? Huh?I’ll read the next book and hope this one was a momentary blip!
