Prompt delivery but story not upto the mark!
As usual delivery by Amazon was prompt and the book came in good condition.I have been a big fan of Sujata Massey and I have literally gulped her book down in the past. However, The Bombay Prince was a disappointment. The book kind of dragged on, very unlike her style. I wonder if it was ghost writing!

Brilliant book
The setting and the protagonist are as dashing as ever. I loved that the tempo of the series is in no way dampened as it progresses. Loved reading it.

Not really absorbing.
I read the earlier novel by this author nad bought the two books now. Bombay Prince is patchy and talks about everything except the prince. There is a murder, but it does not form the central theme, I felt. A lot about Parsis taught to us. I may not buy her next novel!

Superb writing and suspense. Keeps you engaged till the end
Really well written with different threads and angles leading to the mystery. Couldn’t wait to get to the end. Beautiful writing that transports you to that period in Mumbai pure independence and around the Parsi community. Must read for those familiar with Mumbai. Well researched . Liked the father daughter relation portrayed

Brings the 1920s' Bombay to life
As the third book in the Perveen Mistry series, this one had the advantage of key characters already established to build the story around. The author has done a fantastic job with bringing the setting to life - I could almost smell the salt in the air from the Arabian Sea! Her writing is evenly paced and the book is overall a pleasure to read. However, the plot itself is not particularly strong or memorable. Compared to the first Perveen Mistry book (and even the second), this one is less meaty even if just as well-written. Personally I also found the Colin storyline somewhat distracting from the actual mystery. I'm sure the book will make for a good movie/ TV show someday though. Regardless, it was an enjoyable read and I look forward to the next one!

Interesting characters and full of history and atmosphere.
This is about a (fictional) murder that took place in Bombay (now known as "Mumbai") during the riots and unrest that accompanied Edward, Prince of Wales, visit in 1921. The murdered girl is a college student who is also a member of a student activist group. She is also a Parsi, as is the lawyer, Perveen Mistry, whom she consults on how far she can go without being expelled from college. Other characters include the girl's parents, Perveen's parents, an English friend in the British Civil Service in India, all of the Mistry' family's servants, relatives, and friends, Indian Police officers, the College Staff, and a cameo from Edward Prince of Wales himself. Places include the Parsi Tower of Silence in Bombay, the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel, The Asia Society Library, the Bombay Morgue attached to the J.J. Hospital and the hospital itself, and many of the residential neighborhoods of the City. Major research went into this book which combines being fun to read, a first-class Mystery with a surprise ending, and a tour of an important City during an important time.

Fine characters, good plot
I have only 1 quibble with the book, and that is the way the Peince of Wales was referred to. He was never alled Edward or, God forbid, Eddie. He was always, in the family and by friends, called David.

Murder in Bombay during the campaign for Independence.
This excellent book is a Perveen Mistry mystery. As a young lawyer in Bombay at a time of political change, Perveen is involved in solving a murder which could be political. The future Edward VI is visiting India to soothe the independence seekers. Various religious and political groups are stirred up and there are many possible murders. At great personal risk, Perveen solves the mystery. There is a light romance in the air. Maybe that will develop further in future books.I really enjoyed the mix of characters, history and the introduction to Bombay communities.

A female student is murdered amidst political unrest in India
This book continues the investigative adventures of Perveen Mistry, young woman lawyer in colonial India. The desire for independence is growing in India, and Gandhi is gaining adherents. But Gandhi has not yet converted the firebrands in India to peaceful protest. Rioting occurs when England’s Prince Edward is sent on an ill-timed tour of India. It’s during these disturbances that a female college student is murdered on campus. Perveen happens to be on the spot, and can’t rest until she determines the murderer. Naturally, the police have arrested the wrong person.I found the pace of this book a bit slow. But the time and place are fascinating, as are the details about the exotic Parsi religion and Bombay society. Meanwhile, the forbidden attraction between Perveen and an English civil servant continues to develop. I won’t be able to resist the next book in the series.
